A first-winter Taiga Flycatcher appeared at Flamborough Head, with photographs indicating that it could have been the bird that was found there on 16th October. In Cornwall, a juvenile Pallid Harrier was seen over The Lizard, while a Ross's Goose was among Pinkfeet at Fail in Ayrshire. Still present were the White-tailed Lapwing in East Yorkshire, White-winged Scoter in Lothian, Wilson's Phalarope in Northumberland, Hume's Warbler in Kent, King Eider in Shetland; Red-breasted Goose, Richardson's Cackling Goose and Lesser Scaup in Argyll, Arctic Warbler and Spotted Sandpiper on Scilly and Bonaparte's Gull in Northumberland. Other highlights included two American Wigeon, two Green-winged Teal, six Ring-necked Ducks, four Surf Scoters, American Golden Plover (Cornwall), two Sabine's Gulls, Ring-billed Gull (Co.Louth), eight Glossy Ibises, two Rough-legged Buzzards, Red-backed Shrike (Argyll), Great Grey Shrike (Hampshire), four Shorelarks, Short-toed Lark (Norfolk), two Pallas's Warblers, two Barred Warblers, Red-breasted Flycatcher (Norfolk) and Serin (Cornwall). |

| Discoveries today included Hume's Warbler and Radde's Warbler together in Kent at South Foreland,
Radde's Warbler in Cornwall at Polgigga, Dusky Warbler in Lancashire at Middleton,
Bonaparte's Gull in Lincolnshire at Gibraltar Point, and in Argyll on
Islay a Lesser Scaup accompanied both a Ring-necked Duck and an American
Wigeon on Loch Skerrols. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present comprised the White-tailed Lapwing in East Yorkshire, American Buff-bellied Pipit in Cornwall, both Western Subalpine Warbler and Arctic Warbler on the Isles of Scilly, Wilson's Phalarope and Bonaparte's Gull in Northumberland, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll on the Shetland Isles, and King Eider in Moray. The dark morph Gyr remained in Glamorgan but was seen to be a ringed escape. Significant late news concerned a Blyth's Pipit present yesterday on North Ronaldsay, Orkney Isles. |

| Breaking news today included a Pacific Golden Plover in Cambridgeshire at Thorney Dyke, and in Glamorgan confirmation of a dark morph juvenile
Gyr still at Cardiff Bay where it had first been seen on Sunday. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present on the Mainland were the White-tailed Lapwing in East Yorkshire, White-winged Scoter in Lothian, Wilson's Phalarope in Northumberland, King Eider in Moray, and Lesser Scaup in Somerset. On the Isles of Scilly Western Subalpine Warbler, Arctic Warbler and Spotted Sandpiper were all on St Mary's, Lesser Scaup, Hoopoe, Glossy Ibis on Tresco, and Red-breasted Flycatcher on St Martin's. On the Shetland Isles Eastern Stonechat species, King Eider, Ring-necked Duck on Yell, Pallas's Warbler on Unst, and Melodious Warbler, Pallas's Warbler, King Eider, and Ring-necked Duck on Mainland. |

| The highlight of the day was the reappearance of the Eyebrowed Thrush in Highland at Kincraig where it had first been seen on 29th October. Lingering rarities elsewhere comprised the Varied Thrush still on the Orkney Isles, White-tailed Lapwing in East Yorkshire, White-winged Scoter in Lothian, Radde's Warbler in Fife, and Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire. Discoveries included in Northumberland a Wilson's Phalarope at Newstead Flash and a Bonaparte's Gull at Bamburgh, a Blyth's Reed Warbler on the Orkney Isles on Papa Westray, and a White-billed Diver flew past Strumble Head, Pembrokeshire. On the Isles of Scilly an Arctic Warbler was new on St Mary's with Spotted Sandpiper and Olive-backed Pipit still there, and the Lesser Scaup still on Tresco. On the Shetland Isles an Eastern Stonechat species was on Yell, Pallas's Warbler on Unst, and on Mainland a Radde's Warbler at Sullom, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll at Brae, Barred Warbler, King Eider, and Ring-necked Duck. |

| Rarities today comprised the Varied Thrush still on the Orkney Isles, a
Radde's Warbler new on the Isle of May, Fife, White-tailed Lapwing still in East Yorkshire,
American Buff-bellied Pipit in Cornwall, Spotted Sandpiper, Lesser
Scaup, and Olive-backed Pipit all on the Isles of Scilly, Lesser Scaup in Somerset,
Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, King Eiders in both Lothian and Moray, and in County Cork the
Pacific Diver returned to Crookhaven. Scarcities included Short-toed Lark (Norfolk), Pallas's Warbler (Shetland Isles), Barred Warbler (Devon), American Golden Plover (Cornwall), Red-backed Shrike (Argyll), Pectoral Sandpiper (Lancashire), Long-tailed Skua (Aberdeenshire), Great Grey Shrike (Hampshire), Dotterel (Suffolk), Ring-billed Gull (County Louth), Lapland Bunting (Ceredigion), two each of Hoopoe, Sabine's Gull, and Great Shearwater, three Richard's Pipits, five of Surf Scoter, Green-winged Teal, and Shorelark, six Yellow-browed Warblers, 10 Glossy Ibises, and a total of 12 Ring-necked Ducks. |

An Upland Sandpiper was the highlight of the day, being found on Unst, Shetland. Other discoveries included American Buff-bellied Pipits on The Lizard in Cornwall and at Ring Strand in Co.Cork. Lesser Yellowlegs were found at Ballycotton in Co.Cork and Rahasane Turlough in Co.Galway. In Norfolk, a drake Ferruginous Duck made an appearance at Welney WWT. The drake White-winged Scoter reappeared off Musselburgh in Lothian. The Varied Thrush continued to show on Papa Westray, while other continuing rarities comprised the Semipalmated Plover in Co.Cork, Red-breasted and Richardson's Cackling Geese - and Long-billed Dowitcher - on Islay, Arctic Warbler in Cleveland, Brown Shrike in Cornwall, White-tailed Lapwing in East Yorkshire, Lesser Scaup, Olive-backed Pipit and Subalpine Warbler sp on Scilly, and Lesser Scaup in Somerset. Additional highlights nationally included three Snow Geese (Moray), two American Wigeon, two Green-winged Teal, five Ring-necked Ducks, four Surf Scoters, up to seven American Golden Plovers, Dotterel (Suffolk), three Pectoral Sandpipers, Ring-billed Gull (Co.Kerry), 28 Little Auks, 22 Glossy Ibises, four Hoopoes, Red-backed Shrike (Ceredigion), three Great Grey Shrikes, seven Shorelarks, Short-toed Lark (Norfolk), Barred Warbler (Devon), two Rose-coloured Starlings, Red-breasted Flycatcher (Scilly), three Richard's Pipits and Little Bunting (Scilly). |

| New discoveries today included an Isabelline Wheatear at Minsmere RSPB, Suffolk, a Subalpine Warbler species on St Mary's, Isles of Scilly, three Lesser Scaups at Cargreen, Cornwall and a Long-billed Dowitcher at Loch Gruinart RSPB, Argyll.

The Varied Thrush stuck around to delight the first crowds onto Papa Westray, showing well throughout the day. The pick of the day's discoveries included a Semipalmated Plover at Black Rock in Co.Kerry, Blue-winged Teal on The Mullet in Co.Mayo, White-rumped Sandpiper at Bannow Bay in Co.Wexford, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll on North Ronaldsay, Olive-backed Pipit on St.Mary's (Scilly), King Eider on Mainland Shetland and a male Subalpine Warbler at Landguard in Suffolk. Continuing rarities included White-tailed Lapwing in East Yorkshire, Semipalmated Plover in Co.Cork, Western Bonelli's and Hume's Warbler in Shetland, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, Lesser Scaup in Somerset and Scilly, Arctic Warbler in Cleveland, Spotted Sandpiper on Scilly and Bonaparte's Gull in Co.Cork. Scarcities included up to three Black Brant (Dorset), Todd's Canada Goose (Argyll), three Snow Geese (Moray), two Tundra Bean Geese (Shetland), 48 Taiga Bean Geese (Clyde), four American Wigeon, five Green-winged Teal, nine Ring-necked Ducks, two Surf Scoters, three Pectoral Sandpipers, Ring-billed Gull (Co.Louth), 11 Glossy Ibises, four Hoopoes, two Great Grey Shrikes, four Shorelarks, two Rose-coloured Starlings, Bluethroat (Shetland), Red-breasted Flycatcher and Richard's Pipit (both Scilly) and Common Rosefinch (Shetland). |

An American passerine of the highest calibre was found on Papa Westray, Britain's second Varied Thrush. The previous British record famously involved a colourless individual at Nanquidno, Cornwall, in 1982—widely considered a one-off. Non-birder residents reported the bird to have already been present for several days. The only other significant find of the day was a Red-flanked Bluetail at Swining on Mainland Shetland. Meanwhile, lingering rarities included the Arctic Warbler in Cleveland, Brown Shrike in Cornwall, White-tailed Lapwing in East Yorkshire, King Eider in Moray, Lesser Scaup and Spotted Sandpiper on Scilly, the other Lesser Scaup in Somerset; Red-flanked Bluetail, Hume's Warbler and Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll in Shetland; Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire and Snowy Owl on St.Kilda. The Taiga/Red-breasted Flycatcher remained on Westray, Orkney. The best of the rest included two Black Brants (Dorset), Snow Goose (Merseyside), 86 Taiga Bean Geese (Clyde), American Wigeon (Lincolnshire), five Green-winged Teal, seven Ring-necked Ducks, two Surf Scoters, two American Golden Plovers, four Pectoral Sandpipers, Sabine's Gull (Cornwall), seven Little Auks, six Glossy Ibises, four Hoopoes, Wryneck (Scilly), Great Grey Shrike (Norfolk), nine Shorelarks, Red-breasted Flycatcher (Scilly), and Richard's Pipit and Serin (both Scilly). |

| New discoveries today included single Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls at Northdale, Unst and Burn of Sound, Lerwick, both Shetland, a White-billed Diver off Cley, Norfolk and the White-winged Scoter reappeared off Musselburgh, Lothian.
Lingering rarities still present included the White-tailed Lapwing in Yorkshire, Brown Shrike in Cornwall, Red-flanked Bluetail in Shetland, Arctic Warbler in Cleveland, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, Lesser Scaup in Scilly and Richardson's Cackling Goose in Argyll. Scarcity highlights included a Richard's Pipit, a Wryneck, a Marsh Warbler, a Rose-coloured Starling, a Great Grey Shrike, two Little Buntings, three Hoopoes, four Red-breasted Flycatchers, ten Lapland Buntings, 11 Yellow-browed Warblers, three Pectoral Sandpipers, four Grey Phalaropes, a Surf Scoter, an American Wigeon, three Green-winged Teals, eight Ring-necked Ducks, a Todd's Canada Goose, a Black Brant, a Snow Goose, a Tundra Bean Goose, nine Glossy Ibises, a Leach's Petrel, a Pomarine Skua, ten Little Auks, five Balearic Shearwaters and an Iceland Gull. |
