The highlight of the day was the discovery of Red-rumped Swallows in Conwy at Great Ormes Head and in East Sussex at Piddinghoe. Elsewhere, the Lesser Kestrel remained on the Isles of Scilly, Serin and Wryneck were seen in Cornwall, Ring-necked Duck in Bedfordshire, Green-winged Teal in Angus, Lapland Bunting in County Donegal, both Yellow-browed Warbler and two Dotterel in East Yorkshire, three Hoopoes, and 15 Waxwings. Notable migrants included a total of 47 Black Terns, four Garganey, two Turtle Doves, Wood Warbler (Somerset), Wood Sandpiper (Lancashire), Quail (Merseyside), and Blue-headed Wagtail (Lincolnshire). |

New discoveries today included an Iberian Chiffchaff at Rhiw, Gwynedd, a Bee-eater at Barnstaple, Devon and a Black Kite over Hornchurch, London. Significant news from yesterday concerned a Short-toed Treecreeper at Dungeness, Kent.
Lingering rarities included just the Lesser Kestrel in Scilly. Scarcity highlights included a Hoopoe, two Wrynecks, 16 Waxwings, a Corncrake, a Rough-legged Buzzard, two Pomarine Skuas, a Black Brant, a Ring-necked Duck, a Green-winged Teal, four Glaucous Gulls and eight Iceland Gulls. |

Tuesday 14th April 2020 | ||

The highlights of the day were single Hoopoes in both Hampshire and West Sussex,
Richard's Pipit in Lincolnshire, two Dotterel together in Pembrokeshire, two
Balearic Shearwaters off the Isles of Scilly, four Iceland Gulls, five Glaucous
Gulls, and a total of 32 Waxwings. Incoming spring migrants included Wood Sandpiper (Dorset), Spotted Flycatcher (Aberdeenshire), Swift (Essex), and Garganey (Norfolk and Northamptonshire). |

A Black Kite was seen at Sparham, Norfolk.

Rarities today comprised the Lesser Kestrel still on the Isles of Scilly,
West Siberian Stonechat still in Cheshire, and in Hampshire a Black Kite flew over Havant. Scarcities included Serin (Dorset and East Yorkshire), Hoopoe (Cornwall and two in East Sussex), Wryneck (Norfolk), Green-winged Teal (Angus), three Glaucous Gulls, five Iceland Gulls, and a total of 51 Waxwings. Incoming spring migrants included Wood Sandpiper (Lancashire), Quail (Norfolk), Turtle Dove (Kent), Blue-headed Wagtail (Lincolnshire), Swift (Cambridgeshire), eight Whinchat, and 19 Garganey. Late news concerned a Black-winged Stilt present yesterday in the Cotswold Water Park, Gloucestershire/Wiltshire. |

A Song Sparrow was discovered on Fair Isle, Shetland this evng. This is the ninth record for Britain, and the 5th for the island. The sixth Western Sandpiper for Ireland was found at Tacumshin, County Wexford this morning (the second for the site).
Other new discoveries today included a Red-rumped Swallow on Cape Clear, County Cork, and a Black Kite over Scarning, Norfolk. Lingering rarities included the Lesser Kestrel in Scilly and Siberian Stonechat in Cheshire. Scarcity higlights included a Bluethroat, a Wryneck, a Shorelark, two Hoopoes, a Glossy Ibis, a Surf Scoter, two Ring-necked Ducks, a Glaucous Gull and five Iceland Gulls. |

Rarities today comprised the Lesser Kestrel still on the Isles of Scilly, the West Siberian Stonechat still in Cheshire, a
White-billed Diver on the Orkney Isles, and single Black Kites seen briefly in Hampshire, Kent and Norfolk. Scarcities included seven Hoopoes (Ayrshire, Cornwall (3), Norfolk. East Sussex and County Waterford), Shorelark (East Yorkshire), Purple Heron and Glossy Ibis (Lancashire), two Surf Scoters (London), two Glaucous Gulls, and three Iceland Gulls. Incoming spring migrants included 33 Ring Ouzels, three Garganey, two Wood Warbler, Swift (Gwent), and Whinchat (Dorset). |
