Rarities today comprised the Great Spotted Cuckoo still on the Isle of Wight,
the Two-barred Crossbill still in Staffordshire, a Red-rumped Swallow in Cornwall,
Penduline Tit in Kent, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, both Black Duck and
Blue-winged Teal still in Highland, Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire,
Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and Lesser Yellowlegs in both Dorset and Somerset. Scarcities included Little Bunting (County Cork), Hoopoe (London), White-tailed Eagle (Kent), Wryneck (Cornwall), Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), American Wigeon (Leicestershire), Surf Scoter (County Meath), three each of Ring-billed Gull and Yellow-browed Warbler, four Rough-legged Buzzards, six of Great Grey Shrike and Glossy Ibis, eight Ring-necked Ducks and 12 Shorelarks. Incoming spring migrants included Hobby (East Sussex), Tree Pipit (Hertfordshire), three Sedge Warblers, four Willow Warblers, six Ospreys, eight Ring Ouzels, and a total of 46 Garganey. |

A Red-flanked Bluetail was trapped and ringed at Landguard NR, Suffolk mid morning, whilst a Two-barred Crossbill was on Cannock Chase, Staffordshire and a Coues's Arctic Redpoll was in Wells Woods, Norfolk.
Lingering rarities included the Great Spotted Cuckoo on the Isle of Wight, Penduline Tit in Kent, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Pacific Divers in Cornwall and County Cork, Pied-billed Grebe in Argyll, Black Duck and Blue-winged Teal in Highland, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, Forster's Tern in County Galway, Bonaparte's Gull in County Donegal, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford and Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire. |

The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Great Spotted Cuckoo on the Isle of Wight at Ventnor whilst of similar origin were Red-rumped Swallows new in Cornwall at both Polgigga and Tresillian. Rarities elsewhere were the Blue-winged Teal still in Highland, Penduline Tit in Kent, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, and White-billed Divers in both Aberdeenshire and the Orkney Isles. Scarcities included Little Bunting (Norfolk), Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), two each of Ring-billed Gull, Surf Scoter and Rough-legged Buzzard, three of Ring-necked Duck and Great Grey Shrike, eight Glossy Ibises and nine Shorelarks. Incoming spring migrants included Sedge Warbler (East Sussex), two each of Ring Ouzel and Cuckoo, five Willow Warblers, seven Ospreys and 10 Garganey. Significant late news conerns a male Baikal Teal present in Norfolk at Welney on 20th March but it could not be relocated there today. |

Rarities today comprised a Ferruginous Duck confirmed in Staffordshire at Alvecote, the Blue-winged Teal
still in Highland, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Lesser Scaup in Somerset,
Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and single Lesser Yellowlegs in both Cornwall and Dorset. Scarcities were represented by White-tailed Eagles in both County Durham and Norfolk, a Little Bunting in Norfolk, two Rough-legged Buzzards, three Great Grey Shrikes, four Surf Scoters and five each of both Ring-necked Duck and Glossy Ibis. Spring arrivals included Sedge Warbler (Dorset), Lesser Whitethroat (Essex), two each of Ring Ouzel, Osprey and Willow Warbler, three Garganey, four House Martins and a total of 15 White Wagtails. |

The highlight of the day was confirmation of an Alpine Swift in County Wicklow at Greystones where it had first been reported two days ago whilst in Essex a
Red-rumped Swallow was discovered at Fingringhoe Wick. Rarities elsewhere comprised a Pacific Diver
still in Cornwall, Blue-winged Teal still in Highland, two Coues's Arctic Redpolls
in Norfolk, Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford, Long-billed Dowitcher
in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in both Cornwall and Dorset, Lesser Scaup in Somerset and
Richardson's Cackling Goose on the Western Isles. Scarcities today were White-tailed Eagles seen in Essex, Hampshire and Suffolk, Temminck's Stint still in Cornwall, two Rough-legged Buzzards, three each of both Ring-billed Gull and Yellow-browed Warblers, five Great Grey Shrikes, seven Glossy Ibises and a total of 12 Ring-necked Ducks. Incoming summer migrants were Quail (Norfolk), Willow Warbler (Cornwall), three Garganey, four Ospreys and 17 White Wagtails. |

The highlight of the day was the discovery of a male Blue-winged Teal in Highland at Mellon Charles. Rarities elsewhere comprised a Penduline Tit in Kent at Grove Ferry, a
Coues's Arctic Redpoll still in Norfolk, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset,
Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Richardson's Cackling Goose on the Western Isles
and a Black Kite flew over Hook, Hampshire. Scarcities were Pallas's Warbler (Cornwall), Rough-legged Buzzard (Kent), two Glossy Ibises, three Yellow-browed Warblers, four Great Grey Shrikes, six Ring-billed Gulls, nine Ring-necked Ducks and a total of 13 Shorelarks. Incoming spring migrants included Garganey (Dorset), House Martin (Pembrokeshire), Wood Sandpiper, three Ospreys, six White Wagtails, nine Little Ringed Plovers, 15 Swallows and 48 Wheatears. |

A new Lesser Scaup was discovered at Blagdon Lake, Somerset, with the long staying bird still nearby at Chew Valley Lake.
Other lingering rarities included the Snowy Owl and White-billed Diver in Shetland, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset and Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford. Scarcity highlights included a Great Grey Shrike, seven Shorelarks, a Grey Phalarope, a Glossy Ibis, a Rough-legged Buzzard, 12 Tundra Bean Geese, an American Wigeon, two Surf Scoters, four Green-winged Teal, six Ring-necked Ducks, a Yellow-browed Warbler, a Kumlien's Gull, four Iceland Gulls and six Glaucous Gulls. |
