| The highlight of the day was the reappearance of the Pied-billed Grebe in Argyll at Loch
Feorlin where it was previously been present on 30th May-6th June 2014 and again between 6th May-5th August 2016. Elsewhere, a Richardson's Cackling Goose was found in County Mayo on The Mullet, whilst lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Killdeer on the Shetland Isles, Hudsonian Whimbrel in Cornwall, Red-flanked Bluetail in Norfolk, Hume's Warbler and Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Eastern Black Redstart in Cleveland, and single Bonaparte's Gulls in both Devon and County Kerry. Scarcities included Bluethroat (Lincolnshire), Richard's Pipit (Dorset), Glossy Ibis (Leicestershire), Yellow-browed Warbler (Cornwall), two each of both American Wigeon and Surf Scoter, three Green-winged Teals, four of both Ring-billed Gull and Lapland Bunting, 13 Great Grey Shrikes, 15 Shorelarks, and a total of 47 Cattle Egrets. |
