| Rarities today comprised the Pacific Golden Plover still on the Orkney Isles, Collared Pratincole in Suffolk,
Ross's Gull in Devon, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Lesser Yellowlegs on Lincolnshire, and
Black-winged Stilt in Suffolk (3) and West Sussex. Scarcities included Night Heron (Warwickshire), Cattle Egret (County Down), Surf Scoter (Aberdeenshire (3)), and Glossy Ibis (Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Oxfordshire). Pelagic news concerned five Wilson's Petrels, two Cory's and 15 Great Shearwaters off County Cork, and off the Isles of Scilly, three Cory's and four Great Shearwaters. The Bufflehead in Suffolk remained at Trimley Marshes, but was seen to be bearing a colour ring indicating that it is an escape. |

| New arrivals today included an adult Baird's Sandpiper in Hampshire at
Pennington Marshes, an adult Pacific Golden Plover in Orkney on North
Ronaldsay and a Bee-eater over Taynton, Gloucestershire.
Lingering rarities included the female Bufflehead, Collared Pratincole and five Black-winged Stilts in Suffolk, Ross's Gull in Devon and Bonaparte's Gull in Kent. Scarcity highlights were a Night Heron in Warwickshire, a Pomarine Skua in Borders and single Honey Buzzards in Kent and Dorset. |

| The identification of a female Bufflehead was confirmed at Trimley
Marshes SWT, Suffolk today, after being first found on Saturday. It is not known
whether she has a green ring on her left leg (which the recent wandering escape
wears), and could become the third record for the county if she doesn't.
At least four Wilson's Petrels were seen from a boat off Galley Head, County Cork, together with five Great Shearwaters and 11 Cory's Shearwaters. Lingering rarities seen today included the Collared Pratincole and at least one Black-winged Stilt in Suffolk, the family of five Black-winged Stilts in Sussex, the Ross's Gull in Devon and the Bonaparte's Gull in Kent. |

| Lingering rarities present today included the Collared Pratincole and
six Black-winged Stilts in Suffolk, a further five Black-winged Stilts in
Sussex, Ross's Gull in Devon, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent and
Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire.
Scarcity highlights included two Red-backed Shrikes, a Montagu's Harrier, three Honey Buzzards, a Ring-necked Duck, eight Glossy Ibises and ten Cory's Shearwaters. |

| Continuing rarities today comprised the Black-winged Pratincole still in Cambridgeshire, Collared
Pratincole and family party of six Black-winged Stilts in Suffolk, Ross's Gull in Devon,
Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Laughing Gull in County Cork, Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire, and
the family of five Black-winged Stilts in West Sussex. Otherwise, a Black Kite
was seen briefly in Berkshire. Scarcities included Short-toed Lark (London), Long-tailed Skua (Lothian), White Stork (Oxfordshire), Red-backed Shrike and Temminck's Stint (both Norfolk), Spotted Crake (Dorset and Gloucestershire), Glossy Ibis (Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Oxfordshire) and nine Great White Egrets. Late news concerned a Black-winged Stilt at Shapwick Heath, Somerset on 13th July. |

| Saturday 19th July 2014 | ||
|
||
| Highlight of the day was the relocation of the Black-winged Pratincole in
Cambridgeshire (at Ouse Washes RSPB), whilst a party of six Black-winged Stilts
arrived in Suffolk (at Cavenham Pits). Elsewhere rarity sightings included
Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Collared Pratincole in Suffolk, five
Black-winged Stilts in West Sussex, Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire
and Ross's Gull in Devon. A Wilson's Petrel was seen from a
pelagic off Co Mayo and in Highland a White-billed Diver was logged.
The best of the rest included Temminck's Stint in Norfolk, Ring-necked Duck in Angus, Spotted Crake in Somerset and six Glossy Ibises. |

| Rarities today comprised the regular Swinhoe's Petrel trapped again overnight on Fair Isle, Shetland Isles, the
Ross's Gull still in Devon, Collared Pratincole in Suffolk, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent,
Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire, family of five Black-winged Stilts in West Sussex, and a
Baltic Gull was identified in Norfolk at Cley. Otherwise, the summering Red-backed Shrike remained in Norfolk, as did single Glossy Ibises in Dorset, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Oxfordshire. |

| The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Bonaparte's Gull in Kent at Oare Marshes: perhaps the same individual as that present between there and the Isle of Sheppey between 28th April and 15th August 2013. Elsewhere, lingering rarities comprised the Black-winged Pratincole in Norfolk, Collared Pratincole in Suffolk, Ross's Gull in Devon, and Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire. Scarcities included Serin (Kent), Marsh Warbler (Shetland Isles), Red-backed Shrike (Norfolk), Pectoral Sandpiper (Nottinghamshire) and Glossy Ibis (Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire and Perth and Kinross). |

| The highlight of the day was the reappearance of the Black-winged Pratincole in Norfolk, now at Stiffkey
Fen, although elsewhere in the county the Great Knot could not be found at Breydon Water. On Fair Isle the Swinhoe's Petrel was retrapped again overnight, whilst in Suffolk the Collared Pratincole remained, and in Lincolnshire the Lesser Yellowlegs continued. Scarcities included Woodchat Shrike and Red-backed Shrike (both Norfolk), Night Heron (Kent), Long-tailed Skua (County Cork and Norfolk (2)), Ring-necked Duck (two together in County Londonderry), and Glossy Ibis (Cumbria, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire). |

| Tuesday 15th July 2014 | ||

| Another great day for rare waders was headlined by the continued presence of
the Great Knot at Breydon Water (Norfolk). Elsewhere in Norfolk a
Black-winged Pratincole arrived at Cley NWT (where a Pectoral Sandpiper
also remained), and in neighbouring Suffolk a Collared Pratincole was at
Minsmere RSPB. In Lincolnshire the Lesser Yellowlegs lingered at Frampton
Marsh RSPB and in West Sussex the pair of Black-winged Stilts were still
at Medmerry.
In Co Cork the Laughing Gull remained at Ballycotton, and the best of the rest included Red-backed Shrikes in Norfolk and Surrey and five Glossy Ibises. |
