| The highlight of the day was reappearance of both American Buff-bellied Pipits at Queen Mother Reservoir, Berkshire, the first time they have shown since 26th December 2012. Eleswhere, lingering rarities comprised the Gyr still on the Western Isles, American Coot in County Galway, Black Duck in County Mayo, Desert Wheatear in Aberdeenshire, Dusky Warbler on the Isles of Scilly, Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall, Black-bellied Dipper in Norfolk, Red-breasted Geese in both Hampshire and Suffolk, Bonaparte's Gull in Glamorgan, Long-billed Dowitchers in both Lincolnshire and Pembrokeshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Devon, Lesser Scaup in Cornwall and Somerset, and Glossy Ibis in County Cork, Dorset and Hampshire. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Devon), Richard's Pipit (Isles of Scilly), Yellow-browed Warbler (Hampshire), Surf Scoter (County Kerry, Pembrokeshire and County Waterford), American Wigeon (County Leitrim), Ring-necked Duck (Devon, Isles of Scilly (2) and Pembrokeshire), Ring-billed Gull (County Cork, County Kerry, Hampshire, Shetland Isles and County Waterford), Rough-legged Buzzard (Norfolk (2) and Kent), and Great Grey Shrike (Derbyshire, East Yorkshire and Surrey). |

| Lingering rarities seen today included the Subalpine Warbler in
Cornwall, Desert Wheatear and King Eider in Aberdeenshire,
Black-bellied Dipper and Red-breasted Goose in Suffolk, Lesser
Yellowlegs in Devon, Long-billed Dowitchers in Pembrokeshire and
Lincolnshire, Bonaparte's Gulls in Glamorgan and County Antrim, King
Eider in Shetland, Lesser Scaups in Somerset and County Clare,
Red-breasted Geese in Hampshire and Dumfries and Galloway and Glossy
Ibises in Pembrokeshire and Hampshire.
Scarcity highlights included a Richard's Pipit, a Todd's Canada Goose a Temminck's Stint, a Rose-coloured Starling, a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Grey Phalarope. |

| New rarities discovered today comprised a Bonaparte's Gull in Glamorgan on the Ogmore Estuary, and a
Penduline Tit at Stodmarsh, Kent. Elsewhere, lingering raities confirmed as still present were the Desert Wheatear and King Eider in Aberdeenshire, Forster's Tern in County Galway, Black Duck in Highland, Bonaparte's Gull in Devon, Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall, single Red-breasted Geese in Dumfries and Galloway, Hampshire and Suffolk, Lesser Yellowlegs in Devon, Long-billed Dowitchers in both Lincolnshire and Pembrokeshire, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Glossy Ibis in Hampshire, and Black-bellied Dipper in Norfolk. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Devon), Yellow-browed Warbler (Pembrokeshire), Cattle Egret (County Donegal), Temminck's Stint (Somerset), Rough-legged Buzzard (Lincolnshire and Norfolk), Ring-billed Gull (County Dublin, Hampshire and County Kerry), Ring-necked Duck (Cornwall (2), Devon, Pembrokeshire and Somerset), Great Grey Shrike (Bedfordshire, Derbyshire, Hampshire (2), Hertfordshire and Staffordshire). |

| Rarities recorded today comprised the American Coot still in County Galway,
Desert Wheatear in Aberdeenshire, Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall,
Red-breasted Geese in both Dumfries and Galloway and Hampshire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Pembrokeshire,
King Eider on the Shetland Isles, Lesser Scaup in County Clare (2) and Somerset,
Glossy Ibis in County Cork and Dark-breasted Barn Owl in Cambridgeshire. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Devon), Temminck's Stint (Somerset), Surf Scoter (Fife), American Wigeon (Highland and West Yorkshire), Ring-necked Duck (Cornwall (2), Devon and County Mayo), Ring-billed Gull (Dorset, Hampshire, County Kerry, Pembrokeshire, Somerset and County Wexford), and Great Grey Shrike (Denbighshire, Hampshire, Staffordshire, Surrey and Wiltshire (2)). Waxwings were recorded across 43 counties between Highland, the Shetland Isles, Kent and Cornwall, and included maximum counts of 175 in West Yorkshire, 100 in both County Durham and Greater Manchester, 81 in Merseyside and 80 in South Yorkshire. |

| Tuesday 1st January 2013 | ||

||
| A Long-billed Dowitcher was found in Pembrokeshire today, on the Gann
Estuary. The Glossy Ibis which was discovered on Stanpit Marsh, Dorset is
highly likely to be the recent individual from Ringwood, Hampshire.
Lingering rarities seen today included the Desert Wheatear in Aberdeenshire, Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall, Forster's Tern in County Galway, Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Dark-breasted Barn Owl in Cambridgeshire, Blue-winged Teal in Dumfries and Galloway, Lesser Scaups in Somerset and County Clare, Red-breasted Geese in Suffolk, Hampshire and Dumfries and Galloway and Glossy Ibises in Pembrokeshire and County Cork. |

| A King Eider on Whalsay, Shetland was the final new rarity to be
discovered in 2012.
Lingering rarities seen today included both the Desert Wheatear and Laughing Gull in Aberdeenshire, Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall, Lesser Yellowlegs in Devon, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Bonaparte's Gull in County Antrim, Dark-breasted Barn Owl in Cambridgeshire, Lesser Scaups in County Kerry and Somerset, Red-breasted Goose in Suffolk and Glossy Ibises in Pembrokeshire and Hampshire. |
