Friday 10th August 2012
The first Aquatic Warbler of the year was discovered today at South Milton Ley, Devon. This site, or nearby Thurlestone, has recorded seven Aquatic Warblers since 2007, with only 2008 being a blank year. Late news from yesterday involved at least two Black-winged Stilts in Somerset, on Wet Moor, but they couldn't be located today.

Lingering rarities included the Black-headed Bunting on North Ronaldsay, Orkney, Long-billed Dowitcher at Slimbridge WWT, Gloucestershire, Ferruginous Duck at Minsmere RSPB, Suffolk and Glossy Ibis at Tacumshin, County Wexford.

Scarcities highlights were represented by a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, a Night Heron, a Golden Oriole and three Pectoral Sandpipers.
