| Three new Black-winged Stilts arrived at Exminster Marshes (Devon).
Lingering rarities comprised two Long-billed Dowitchers in Somerset,
Red-breasted Goose in Highland, Glossy Ibises in Western Isles and
Cumbria, Blue-winged Teal in Cornwall, Ross's Goose in Moray,
Greater Yellowlegs in Aberdeenshire and Black-winged Stilt in
Lincolnshire.
The best of the rest included Wryneck in Suffolk, Cattle Egret in Norfolk and Dotterels in Oxfordshire and East Yorkshire. An excellent passage of Arctic Terns through inland sites included counts of c320 at Blithfield Reservoir (Staffordshire) and 300 past Slimbridge WWT (Gloucestershire). Smaller numbers of Black and Little Terns, Little Gulls and Bar-tailed Godwits were also recorded at inland water bodies today. |
