Saturday 4th February 2012  
  A Blue-winged Teal at Threave, Dumfries and Galloway was found today, and is likely to be a returning bird from last winter.

Long staying rarities once again comprised the Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco in Hampshire, Paddyfield Warbler in Sussex, Lesser White-fronted Goose in Norfolk, Bufflehead in Cornwall, Desert Wheatear and Northern Long-tailed Tit in Yorkshire, Pallid Harrier in County Galway, Red-breasted Goose in Devon and Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset. The Thayer's Gull was seen again in County Fermanagh.

Other rarities comprised three Glossy Ibises, Lesser Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpiper, two Lesser Scaups and a Ferruginous Duck.
