Thursday 24th June 2010  
  The highlight of the day was the reappearance of the territorial male Little Bittern in Somerset at Walton Heath. Elsewhere, lingering rarities comprised the Terek Sandpiper in County Dublin, Forster's Tern and Glossy Ibis together in County Wexford, Blue-winged Teal in Cambridgeshire, Great Reed Warblers singing in both Anglesey and Derbyshire and a Ferruginous Duck in Suffolk.

Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Cornwall), White-spotted Bluethroat (Norfolk), Purple Heron (Kent), Common Rosefinch (Perth and Kinross), Marsh Warbler (Isle of Wight), Temminck's Stint (Aberdeenshire) and both Serin and Golden Oriole on the Isles of Scilly.

Wednesday 23rd June 2010  
  An adult female Ferruginous Duck at Minsmere RSPB, Suffolk was only the sixth individual to be found in June, whilst a drake Lesser Scaup at Loch Leven, Perth & Kinross was the ninth. A Tawny Pipit on North Ronaldsay, Orkney rounded off today's new rarity discoveries.

The adult Terek Sandpiper was located again on the Rogerstown Estuary, County Dublin this evening, with the Glossy Ibis still at Tacumshin, County Wexford.

The Iberian Chiffchaff continued to sing in Yorkshire, as did the Great Reed Warbler in Derbyshire, whilst Red-footed Falcons remained in Kent and Sussex and Blue-winged Teal in Cambridgeshire.

The adult Night Heron remained on Benbecula, Western Isles, with other headline scarcities including Red-backed Shrike in Kent, White-spotted Bluethroat in Norfolk, Marsh Warbler on the Isle of Wight, Roseate Tern in Suffolk and Montagu's Harrier in Yorkshire. Spoonbills were in Norfolk (2), Suffolk (7), Scilly, Lincolnshire (2), Kent and Argyll (2).

Monday 21st June 2010  
  Headline birds today were a Paddyfield Warbler on the Shetland Isles at Grutness and a Terek Sandpiper in County Dublin at the Rogerstown Estuary. Elsewhere, a mobile Caspian Tern was located in Aberdeenshire, the Blue-winged Teal continued to linger in Cambridgeshire, as did the Great Reed Warbler in Derbyshire and the Red-footed Falcon in East Sussex.

Scarcities included Purple Heron (Kent), White-spotted Bluethroat (Norfolk), Common Rosefinch (Forth), Temminck's Stint (Aberdeenshire), Ring-necked Duck (Perth and Kinross) and both Serin and Red-necked Phalarope in Lincolnshire.

Saturday 19th June 2010  
  The highlight of the day was a Caspian Tern seen briefly at Loch Lomond, Clyde. Other rarities noted today comprised the Blue-winged Teal still in Cambridgeshire, Great Reed Warbler in Derbyshire and the Iberian Chiffchaff in South Yorkshire.

Scarcities included a Purple Heron still in Kent, a Serin on the Isles of Scilly, Common Rosefinch in Perth and Kinross, Marsh Warbler on the Isle of Wight and single Surf Scoters in both Aberdeenshire and the Shetland Isles.

Friday 18th June 2010  
  Lingering rarities confirmed as still present today comprised the ringed Blue-winged Teal in Cambridgeshire, Great Reed Warbler in Derbyshire, King Eider in Aberdeenshire and the Iberian Chiffchaff in Gwent. An Alpine Swift showed briefly in Northumberland at Whittle Dene.

Scarcities included the territorial White-spotted Bluethroat still in Norfolk, a Purple Heron in Kent, a Great White Egret briefly in West Sussex, single Common Rosefinches in both Dorset and Perth and Kinross and Marsh Warblers in Norfolk, Northumberland, South Yorkshire and the Isle of Wight.

Thursday 17th June 2010  
  The quietest day of the year so far, with no new rarities found. The headline bird was the male Little Shearwater, which was heard again overnight in the Manx Shearwater colony on Lundy, Devon. Other summering rarities consisted of Great Reed Warbler in Derbyshire, single Iberian Chiffchaffs in Gwent and Yorkshire, King Eider in Aberdeenshire and Glossy Ibis in County Wexford. The wandering drake Blue-winged Teal in Cambridgeshire relocated to Berry Fen, Bluntisham.

A male Serin sang on St Agnes, Scilly mid morning. Males on territory included Marsh Warbler at Edderthorpe, Yorkshire, White-spotted Bluethroat at Welney, Norfolk and Common Rosefinch at Glendeven, Perth and Kinross. The Red-necked Phalarope was seen early morning only at Frampton Marsh RSPB, Lincolnshire, with other scarcities consisting of a Dotterel on Unst, Shetland, Rose-coloured Starling on Barra, Western Isles, Temminck's Stint at Loch of Strathbeg RSPB, Aberdeenshire, Purple Heron at Dungeness, Kent and several Honey Buzzards and Spoonbills.

Wednesday 16th June 2010  
  The first Iberian Chiffchaff for Ireland was discovered at Brownstown Head, County Waterford today, continuing this record breaking year for the species. Also in Ireland, a Black-winged Stilt was seen in County Armagh yesterday evening, as it flew over Portadown. The Forster's Tern reappeared at Tacumshin, County Wexford, with the Glossy Ibis also confirmed as still present.

Back in Britain, the Great Reed Warbler was still singing and showing well at Straws Bridge, Derbyshire, and the drake Blue-winged Teal showed all day at Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB, Cambridgeshire (it was seen to be bearing a metal ring upon closer views this evening). A Bee-eater was seen again at Cemlyn, Anglesey, single Iberian Chiffchaffs were heard in Yorkshire and Gwent but there was no sign of the male Marmora's Warbler at Blorenge.

Scarcity highlights included a Red-necked Phalarope in Lincolnshire, Hoopoe in London, single Common Rosefinches in Kent and Perth and Kinross, Marsh Warbler and White Stork in Yorkshire, White-spotted Bluethroat and Roseate Tern in Norfolk, Ring-necked Duck in Fife, two Purple Herons in Kent and several Honey Buzzards and Spoonbills.

Tuesday 15th June 2010  
  A male Rustic Bunting was new in on Fair Isle, Shetland today, as was a Bluethroat. A Great Reed Warbler was trapped and ringed at Malltraeth RSPB, Anglesey, but unfortunately was not seen after release. A drake Blue-winged Teal in Cambridgeshire, the second in just under three weeks and just the eighth for the county, was found at Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB mid morning, where it remained until dusk.

Long staying rarities logged today included the Marmora's Warbler and Iberian Chiffchaff in Gwent (with another of the latter still in Yorkshire), Broad-billed Sandpiper in Cleveland and Great Reed Warbler in Derbyshire.

Classic mid summer scarcities were represented by two Common Rosefinches, a Red-backed Shrike in Northumberland, a Marsh Warbler in South Yorkshire and a Golden Oriole in Cornwall, whilst the White-spotted Bluethroat remained in Norfolk.
