A second Veery arrived on Whalsay, Shetland today, with another
remaining on Foula. Also on the islands are a Taiga Flycatcher, three
Pechora Pipits, an American Buff-bellied Pipit, Red-throated Pipit,
Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll and a Blyth's Reed Warbler. Nearby, on
Orkney, a Red-eyed Vireo was found in Langskaill Plantation, with another
Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll on North Ronaldsay.
A Baird's Sandpiper and a Long-billed Dowitcher were found on the Western Isles, with other new discoveries including single Glossy Ibises in Anglesey and Wiltshire, American Golden Plover in County Kerry and a Great White Egret in Sussex. Lingering rarities included the Fan-tailed Warbler in Kent, King Eider in Lincolnshire, Coues's Arctic Redpoll on the Western Isles, Aquatic Warbler in Warwickshire and a White-rumped Sandpiper in Essex. |
