| Britain's third Audouin's Gull was briefly at Dungeness, Kent this
evening - a second-summer was on the beach near the power station from
5.15-5.50pm before it flew west.
In Lancashire, a bizarre sequence of events began with a 'Common Scoter' being picked up on a railway line near Silverdale, and eventually led to the County's first Black Scoter being released off Jenny Brown's Point early in the afternoon. Unfortunately, by the time the news of the bird was released, the tide was falling rapidly and it quickly drifted out of view. Elsewhere the Scops Owl remained in Thrupp and other lingering rarities included the Bonaparte's Gull and Iberian Chiffchaff in Norfolk, Squacco Heron on Isles of Scilly and Laughing Gull in Devon. A male Ortolan Bunting was briefly at Gibraltar Point NNR, Lincolnshire and a Bluethroat was at Spurn, East Yorkshire. |
