Why can’t I see the Message?
In order to view the Pager Message you will have to register. If you have already registered you will have to login.
Why should I register?
It will give you a free period in which you will recieve full access to the RBA site. The bird news is updated constantly throughout the day as, and when, birds are found. We are sending bird news 365 days of the year 15 hours a day.
How do I register to use the Rare Bird Alert web-site?
Registering for the Rare Bird Alert website takes only a few minutes and gives you instant access to the full functionality of the site. To register click on 'REPORTS' - 'MY PROFILE' - 'REGISTER AS A NEW USER' and follow the on-screen instructions. Please make sure you have a valid email address when you register as you will be unable to register without one.
How long will the free access to the Rare Bird Alert web-site last?
On registering you will receive a free trial (this period can vary depending on the current special offers - the special offers are displayed when you register or login) period to the RBA website (providing constant updates on all UK bird news throughout each day.) When your free period draws to a close we will ask you if you would like to subscribe to the service. Hopefully by this stage you will be very familiar with how our website operates and know whether you wish to subscribe to the service.
I’ve forgotten my password.
Follow this procedure to view your password to the Rare Bird Alert web-site:
- Click on My Profile in the menu.
- Click on Forgotten Password.
- Type in your e-mail address and click
- Type in your answer and click on
- If your answer matches the answer you provided to your Secret Question, the web-site will display your password.
Hint: It is a good idea to change your password regularly, and also to occasionally change your Secret Question and Answer.
The Web-Pager does not work – I can only see the name of the bird, I can’t find out where it is
You need to register. If you have already registered you need to login.
I’ve clicked on the Channel button, but the pop-up window does not appear
When you click on the Channel button, the Select a Channel pop-up window should appear. However, it may not move to the front of the main window, particularly if - for some reason - it is already open. Check the taskbar (normally at the bottom of the screen) to see if the window is loaded but hidden behind the main window. If it is, select it from the task bar – this should bring it into focus and place it on top of the main window.
