The highlight of the day was the discovery of a male Baikal Teal in Pembrokeshire at Llangorse Lake; the first record for Wales. Rarities elsewhere comprised White-winged Scoters still in both Lothian and County Mayo, Greater Yellowlegs in County Waterford, American Herring Gull in Cornwall, Isabelline Wheatear and Laughing Gull in Devon, Pallid Harrier, Hume's Warbler, Long-billed Dowitcher, four Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, Hume's Warbler in Kent, Penduline Tits (2) in County Cork and East Sussex, Arctic Redpoll in County Antrim, and King Eider in Cleveland. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Kent), Ring-billed Gull (Clyde), Rose-coloured Starling (Somerset), Sabine's Gull, Great Grey Shrike, and Black Brant (Hampshire), Yellow-browed Warbler (Oxfordshire), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), three American Wigeons, four Glossy Ibises, five Green-winged Teals, six Ring-necked Ducks, 13 Shorelarks, and a total of 30 Waxwings. |
