The mega highlights of the day were two Harlequin Ducks at Maheroarty, Co.Donegal, and further sightings of a White-throated Needletail at Filey, N.Yorks, and at Loch of Skene, Aberdeenshire.
New rarities included Brown Shrike at Halfways near St.David's, Pembrokeshire, Red-eyed Vireos (at least three) on Tory Island, Co.Donegal, Rustic Bunting at Cape Clear, Co.Cork, White-rumped Sandpipers at North Ronaldsay, Orkney and Loch Ordais, Lewis, Semipalmated Sandpiper at Snettisham, Norfolk, Coues's Redpoll at Fetlar, Shetland, Northern Harrier at Tacumshin, Co.Wexford, and American Pipit at Inishmore, Co.Galway. Continuing rarities included Mourning Dove on St.Agnes, Scilly, American Pipit on St.Agnes, Scilly, Siberian Thrush at Scalloway, Shetland, Blue-winged Teal at Loch of Spiggie, Shetland, Western Subalpine Warbler at North Levenwick, Shetland, Spotted Sandpiper on St.Agnes, Scilly, Turkestan Shrike at Dunwich Heath, Suffolk, Lesser Yellowlegs at South Wootton, Norfolk, Etton Maxey Pits, Cambs, and Lurgangreen, Co.Louth, Red-footed Falcon at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, Northern Parula at Firkeel, Co.Cork, Western Bonelli's Warbler at Old Head of Kinsale, Co.Cork, Grey-cheeked Thrush on Tory Island, Co.Donegal, Blackpoll Warbler on Unst, Shetland, Western Sandpiper at Maidens, Ayrshire, Lesser Scaup at Gouthwaite Reservoir, N.Yorks, Marsh Sandpiper at Musselburgh Lagoons, Lothian, Baird's Sandpipers at Rutland Water, Leicestershire and South Uist, Western Isles, Isabelline Wheatear at Ballinclamper, Co.Waterford, Northern Harrier at Tacumshin, Co.Wexford, Long-billed Dowitcher at Tacumshin, Co.Wexford, White-rumped Sandpiper at Tiree, Argyll, and Cackling Goose at North Uist, Western Isles. |
