Rarities today comprised the Harlequin Duck still on the Western Isles, White-winged Scoter still in County Mayo, both Isabelline Wheatear and American Herring Gull in Cornwall, Baikal Teal in Nottinghamshire, Pallid Harrier in Norfolk, Hume's Warblers in Kent and Somerset, Penduline Tits in County Cork (3) and Somerset, King Eider in Cleveland, Lesser Scaups in Somerset and Surrey, and Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk and County Tyrone. Scarcities included Serin (Cornwall), Sabine's Gull (Hampshire), Black Brant (East Yorkshire), two Yellow-browed Warblers, three Green-winged Teals, four Ring-billed Gulls, nine Ring-necked Ducks, 19 Shorelarks, and a total of 45 Waxwings. |

Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Kent), Sabine's Gull and Black Brant (Hampshire), American Wigeon (Northumberland), Yellow-browed Warbler (Lancashire), Lapland Bunting (Norfolk), two each of both Ring-billed Gull and Surf Scoter, three of Kumlien's Gull and Glossy Ibis, 12 Ring-necked Ducks, 16 Shorelarks, and a total of 40 Waxwings. |

There was late news this morning of an Isabelline Wheatear in Cornwall found yesterday, this bird is still present today. A Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll was discovered in County Mayo. Lingering rarities still present were the Harlequin Duck in Western Isles, Penduline Tit, Hume's Warbler, and Kentish Plover in Somerset, Baikal Teal in Nottinghamshire, White-winged Scoter, Black Duck, and Richardson's Cackling Goose in County Mayo, Richardson's Cackling Goose in Argyll, and 3 Penduline Tits in County Cork. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler, Sabine's Gull, Black Brant, Kumlien's Gull, two each of both American Wigeon and Great Grey Shrike, three Yellow-browed Warblers, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, 17 Shorelarks, eight Iceland Gulls, six Glaucous Gulls, Pomarine Skua, Pomarine Skua, two Tundra Bean Geese, Rosefinch, Lady Amherst's Pheasant, two Lapland Buntings, four Green-winged Teals, six Little Auks, three Surf Scoters, Pomarine Skua, Todd's Canada Goose and a total of 41 Waxwings. |

The highlight od the day was a Harlequin Duck discovered on the Western Isles on Barra; perhaps the same individual earlier present on Coll, Argyll on 22nd December 2022. Elsewhere, in Somerset a Penduline Tit was new at Bridgwater, and news broke of a female Baikal Teal at Finningley on the South Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire border. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Greater Yellowlegs still in County Waterford, Pallid Harrier and three Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, Hume's Warbler, Kentish Plover, and Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Hume's Warbler in Kent, Hooded Merganser in County Mayo, King Eider in Cleveland, and Ferruginous Duck in County Tyrone. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Kent), Sabine's Gull and Black Brant (Hampshire), Surf Scoter (County Kerry), Green-winged Teal (Dorset), Lapland Bunting (Norfolk), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two each of both American Wigeon and Great Grey Shrike, three Yellow-browed Warblers, seven Glossy Ibises, 12 Ring-necked Ducks, 18 Shorelarks, and a total of 40 Waxwings. |

| Lingering rarities seen today included the Black-browed Albatross in Cornwall (today off Pendeen Watch), Hume's Warbler, Turkestan Lesser Whitethroat, Pallid Harrier and Ferruginous Duck in Norfolk, further Hume's Warblers in Somerset and Kent, three Penduline Tits in County Cork and another in Kent, Kentish Plover and Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Lesser Scaup in Surrey and King Eider in Cleveland.
Scarcity highlights included a Pallas's Warbler, two Yellow-browed Warblers, two Great Grey Shrikes, 18 Shorelarks, 62 Waxwings, seven Glossy Ibises, a Rough-legged Buzzard, a Lady Amherst's Pheasant, two American Wigeon, three Green-winged Teal, three Surf Scoters, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, a Snow Goose, a Todd's Canada Goose, seven Tundra Bean Geese, a Little Auk, a Sabine's Gull, five Ring-billed Gulls, six Glaucous Gulls, a Kumlien's Gull and eight Iceland Gulls. |

| A White-billed Diver was found off Yell, Shetland today.
Lingering rarities still present included the Black-browed Albatross in Cornwall, Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, White-winged Scoter in County Mayo, Hume's Warbler, Long-billed Dowitcher, Pallid Harrier and Ferruginous Duck in Norfolk, other Hume's Warblers in Somerset and Kent, Penduline Tit in Kent, single Lesser Scaups in Western Isles, Somerset and Surrey, King Eider in Cleveland, Red-breasted Goose in Argyll and two Cackling Geese in Western Isles. Scarcity highlights included a Great Grey Shrike, a Lapland Bunting, a Pallas's Warbler, three Yellow-browed Warblers, 14 Shorelarks, 45 Waxwings, four Glossy Ibises, a Lady Amherst's Pheasant, two American Wigeon, five Green-winged Teal, six Surf Scoters, 14 Ring-necked Ducks, a Todd's Canada Goose, four Tundra Bean Geese, two Little Auks, a Sabine's Gull, a Ring-billed Gull, eight Glaucous Gulls, two Kumlien's Gulls and 14 Iceland Gulls. |

The highlight of the day was the reappearance of the immature Black-browed Albatross in Cornwall where it again flew past St Ives Island. Rarities elsewhere comprised the Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, Hume's Warblers in Kent, Norfolk and Somerset, Pallid Harrier, Long-billed Dowitcher, and three Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, Hooded Merganser in County Mayo, Red-breasted Goose in Argyll, King Eider in Cleveland, Kentish Plover in Somerset, and Lesser Scaups in both Somerset and Surrey. Scarcities included Sabine's Gull (Hampshire), Ring-billed Gull (Cornwall), Lapland Bunting (Lincolnshire), Black Brant (Hampshire), two each of American Wigeon, Great Grey Shrike, Yellow-browed Warbler and Kumlien's Gull, four of Green-winged Teal and Glossy Ibis, nine Ring-necked Ducks, 13 Waxwings, and at total of 21 Shorelarks. |

Rarities today comprised White-winged Scoters still in both Lothian and County Mayo, Baikal Teal still in Powys, Pallid Harrier and Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk, Hume's Warblers in Kent, Norfolk, and Somerset, two Penduline Tits together in Kent, Kentish Plover in Somerset, Azorean Yellow-legged Gull in Cornwall, King Eider in Cleveland, and Lesser Scaups in Somerset, Surrey, and the Western Isles. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Kent), Sabine's Gull and Great Grey Shrike (Hampshire), Lapland Bunting (County Cork), Black Brant (East Yorkshire), Kumlien's Gull (County Kerry), two each of both Ring-billed Gull and Yellow-browed Warbler, three American Wigeons, seven Ring-necked Ducks, nine Glossy Ibises, 17 Shorelarks, and a total of 48 Waxwings. |

The highlight of the day was a Hume's Warbler identified in Somerset at Compton Dando whilst other over-wintering individuals remain in both Kent and Norfolk. Rarities elsewhere comprised the White-winged Scoter still in County Mayo, Greater Yellowlegs in County Waterford, Baikal Teal in Powys, Pallid Harrier and two Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, three Penduline Tits together in Kent, King Eider in Cleveland, Kentish Plover in Somerset, and Lesser Scaups in both Somerset and Surrey. Scarcities included Sabine's Gull (Hampshire), American Wigeon (Somerset), Yellow-browed Warbler (Lancashire), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two each of Ring-billed Gull, Lapland Bunting, Green-winged Teal, and Black Brant, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, 17 Shorelarks, and a total of 37 Waxwings. |

New today was a Lesser Scaup identified in Surrey at Staines Reservoir. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the White-winged Scoter and Hooded Merganser in County Mayo, Greater Yellowlegs in County Waterford, Baikal Teal in Powys, Pallid Harrier, Hume's Warbler, Long-billed Dowitcher, and three Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, Hume's Warbler in Kent, Kentish Plover and Lesser Scaup in Somerset, and three Penduline Tits together in County Cork. Scarcities included Common Rosefinch (Dorset), Rose-coloured Starling (Somerset), Sabine's Gull (Hampshire), Surf Scoter (Conwy), Black Brant (East Yorkshire), two each of Ring-billed Gull, American Wigeon, Ring-necked Duck, and Green-winged Teal, seven Glossy Ibises, 16 Shorelarks, and a total of 54 Waxwings. |
