| The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Killdeer on the Shetland Isles at Sandwick, with a
Coues's Arctic Redpoll new on Unst. In County Galway a Lesser Scaup was identified at Loughrea, and in Hampshire the
Ferruginous Duck returned to Blashford Lakes. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Siberian Accentor in Highland at Avoch, Western Rufous Turtle Dove on the Shetland Isles, Black-throated Thrush and Northern Harrier on the Orkney Isles, Desert Wheatear in Devon, two Eastern Black Redstarts in Cleveland, Western Purple Swamphen and Pallid Harrier in Lincolnshire, Dalmatian Pelican and Hudsonian Whimbrel in Cornwall, Hooded Merganser in Ayrshire, Bonaparte's Gull in Devon, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset and Richardson's Cackling Goose in County Sligo. Scarities included Short-toed Lark (North Yorkshire), Little Bunting (Suffolk), Pallas's Warbler (Pembrokeshire), Surf Scoter (Lothian), Rough-legged Buzzard (Lincolnshire and Norfolk), three each of both Ring-necked Duck and Glossy Ibis, and four of Richard's Pipit and American Wigeon. |
