| Rarities today comprised both the Pallid Harrier and Ferruginous
Duck still in Norfolk, Long-billed Dowitchers in both Leicestershire
and Northumberland, Penduline Tits in Gloucestershire (2) and Hampshire
(2), White-billed Diver (Orkney Isles), Lesser Scaup (Cornwall),
and Ferruginous Duck (Buckinghamshire). Scarcities included Hoopoe (West Midlands), Richard's Pipit (two together in East Yorkshire), American Wigeon (Northumberland), Surf Scoter (Fife), Ring-billed Gull (Cornwall), Kumlien's Gull (Clyde), two Ring-necked Ducks, three Rough-legged Buzzards, four Glossy Ibises, and seven Lapland Buntings. |

| Rarities today comprised the Pacific Diver, Hudsonian Whimbrel and
Lesser Scaup all still in Cornwall, Pallid Harrier and Ferruginous Duck in Norfolk,
Greater Yellowlegs on the Isle of Wight, Red-breasted Goose in Essex, Penduline
Tits in both Cleveland (2) and Gloucestershire (2), Long-billed
Dowitcher in Leicestershire and Northumberland, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Northumberland, Spotted Sandpiper
in County Cork, Bonaparte's Gull in Devon, Lesser Scaup in County Antrim and Glamorgan,
Ferruginous Duck in Buckinghamshire, County Durham and Hampshire, and a Richardson's Cackling Goose
in Argyll. Scarcities included Hoopoe (West Midlands), Richard's Pipit (two together in East Yorkshire), Surf Scoter (North Yorkshire), Snow Goose (Dumfries and Galloway), Ring-necked Duck (Berkshire), American Wigeon (Highland and Lancashire), Cattle Egret (Somerset and Suffolk), and a total of seven Glossy Ibises. |

| Saturday 6th February 2016 | ||

| A Lesser Scaup was discovered in Belfast, County Antrim, and the
identity of the Long-billed Dowitcher at Wanlip, Leicestershire was
confirmed, having been present for at least two days.
Lingering rarities seen today included the Hudsonian Whimbrel in Cornwall, two Penduline Tits in both Gloucestershire and Cleveland, Gyr in the Western Isles, Pallid Harrier and Ferruginous Duck in Norfolk (with others of the latter still in Buckinghamshire and Hampshire), Coues's Arctic Redpoll and Long-billed Dowitcher in Northumberland, White-billed Diver in Orkney, Spotted Sandpiper in County Cork, Red-breasted Goose in Essex, Richardson's Cackling Goose in County Sligo and another Lesser Scaup in Glamorgan. |

| New discoveries today included a smart juvenile American Herring Gull
at Raghly, County Sligo and two Penduline Tits at Saltholme RSPB,
Cleveland, whilst there was news of a Ferruginous Duck at Caldecotte
Lake, Buckinghamshire which was present for its second day.

| The highlight of the day was the discovery of an American Herring Gull in Cambridgeshire at
King's Dyke, Whittlesey. Rarities elsewhere comprised the Greater Yellowlegs still on the Isle of Wight, both Pallid Harrier and Ferruginous Duck still in Norfolk, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Forster's Tern in County Galway, and Penduline Tits in both Gloucestershire (2) and Hampshire (3). Scarcities included Hoopoe (West Midlands), American Wigeon (North Yorkshire), Yellow-browed Warbler (Cornwall and Hampshire), Glossy Ibis (Cornwall and Suffolk), Cattle Egret and Waxwing (both Suffolk). |

| The highlight of the day was the relocation of the Franklin's Gull briefly
at Amwell, Hertfordshire; 34 miles to the south southeast of yesterday's
sighting. Elsewhere, rarities comprised the Glaucous-winged Gull in
County Cork, Hudsonian Whimbrel in Cornwall, Gyr on the Western
Isles, Pallid Harrier on the Orkney Isles, Black Scoter, Coues's
Arctic Redpoll and Long-billed Dowitcher in Northumberland, two Penduline
Tits together in Gloucestershire, White-billed Diver on the Orkney
Isles, Ferruginous Duck in County Durham, and Richardson's Cackling
Goose in County Sligo. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Cornwall and County Wexford), Hoopoe (West Midlands), Yellow-browed Warbler (Cornwall and Hampshire), Snow Goose (Cumbria and Galloway), American Wigeon (Highland, North Yorkshire and Somerset), a total of five Glossy Ibises, and 21 Caspian Gulls. Signficant late news from yesterday concerned a Laughing Gull in Cumbria at Walney Island, and in Devon a King Eider at The Skern, although neither could be found today. |
