| The highlight of the day was a Terek Sandpiper in Northumberland, present briefly at Low Newton-by-the-Sea. Elsewhere, a
White-rumped Sandpiper arrived in East Yorkshire at Kilnsea, and a Red-footed Falcon flew over Colaton Raleigh, Devon. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Hudsonian Whimbrel in West Sussex, Greater Yellowlegs in Hampshire, Little Bittern in South Yorkshire, Franklin's Gull in County Londonderry, and Bonaparte's Gull in Kent. Scarcities included White-winged Black Tern (Lancashire), Melodious Warbler (West Midlands), American Wigeon (South Yorkshire), Night Heron and Purple Heron (together in Somerset), and Red-backed Shrike (Orkney Isles). |
