| The higlight of the day was the discovery of a territorial Greenish Warbler
in Lancashire at Edgworth. Elsewhere, a Red-rumped Swallow was on the Shetland Isles at Asta, and a
Wilson's Petrel flew past Porthgwarra, Cornwall. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present comprised both the Bonaparte's Gull and Black Kite in Kent, Western Subalpine Warbler on the Shetland Isles, American Golden Plover in East Sussex, and King Eider in Aberdeenshire. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling off the Isle of Man, Golden Oriole, Common Rosefinch and two Red-backed Shrikes on the Orkney Isles, single Marsh Warblers in both Norfolk and the Shetland Isles, with Pectoral Sandpipers in both Cornwall and Norfolk. Significant late news from northwest Scotland on Wednesday concerned a male Collared Flycatcher at Stoer, Highland, and a Snowy Owl on St Kilda, Western Isles. |

| The highlight of the day was a Pacific Swift that flew south over Spurn, East Yorkshire this morning, before being relocated briefly in Lincolnshire at Saltfleetby
mid afternoon. This represents the seventh British record of Pacific Swift, but the fourth for
Spurn; where the species has previously been recorded flying south on 1st July 2005, 22nd and 26th June 2008, and 9th July 2011. New rarities elsewhere included a Spotted Sandpiper in Cumbria at Workington, American Golden Plover on South Uist, Western Isles, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset at Ham Wall, and a Black Kite briefly in Cambridgeshire. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Caspian Tern in Dorset, both Bonaparte's Gull and Black Kite in Kent, American Golden Plover in East Sussex, and a White-rumped Sandpiper in Moray. Scarcities included Common Rosefinch (Ayrshire), Golden Oriole (Orkney Isles), Marsh Warblers (Norfolk and Northumberland), Red-backed Shrike (Orkney Isles), Grey-headed Wagtail (Aberdeenshire and East Sussex), Red-necked Phalarope (East Yorkshire and Gloucestershire), and Pectoral Sandpiper (Cornwall, Norfolk (2) and Northumberland). |

| The highlight of the day was a brief Roller on Fair Isle, Shetland Isles, with a
Black Duck new-in at Loch of Hillwell. In Dorset a Caspian Tern moved from Radipole Lake to West Bexington, whilst an
American Golden Plover was identified in East Sussex at Cuckmere Haven, and the
White-rumped Sandpiper at Findhorn Bay, Moray was joined by a second individual. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Black-headed Bunting on the Isle of Wight, both Bonaparte's Gull and Black Kite in Kent, Western Subalpine Warbler on the Shetland Isles, and Lesser Scaup in Highland. Scarcities included White-spotted Bluethroat (Norfolk), Red-spotted Bluethroat (Orkney Isles), Common Rosefinch (Ayrshire), Buff-breasted Sandpiper (County Mayo), Red-necked Phalarope (Gloucestershire), Marsh Warbler (Shetland Isles and Suffolk), Red-backed Shrike (Cleveland and Orkney Isles), and Pectoral Sandpiper (Norfolk (2) and Western Isles). |

| Today's new discoveries included Gull-billed Tern in Norfolk,
White-rumped Sandpiper in Moray and Ortolan Bunting in Shetland,
whilst a Black-headed Bunting was on Isle of Wight for its second day.
Lingering rarities included Little Bittern in Somerset, Bonaparte's Gull and Black Kite in Kent, Squacco Heron on Isle of Wight, Red-footed Falcon in Cambridgeshire and Lesser Scaup in Highland. A Pectoral Sandpiper in Aberdeenshire, Hoopoe in Essex, Common Rosefinch on Western Isles, Red-necked Phalarope in Co Wexford, White-spotted Bluethroat in Norfolk, two Red-backed Shrikes and six Marsh Warblers were recorded. |

| Sunday 9th June 2013 | ||

| The rarest bird discovered today was a female Collared Flycatcher, the
fourth British record of the species this year, on Fair Isle, Shetland, where it
was trapped and ringed. A Squacco Heron was at Brading Marsh RSPB, Isle
of Wight for a second day, where a Red-rumped Swallow was also seen, and
a Caspian Tern spent much of the afternoon at Testwood Lakes HWT,
Hampshire, although news wasn't released until it had flown off.
Lingering rarities still present today included both the Black Kite, Bee-eater and Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Red-footed Falcon in Cambridgeshire, Savi's Warbler in Suffolk, single Subalpine Warblers in Conwy and Shetland, Lesser Scaup in Highland, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset and Glossy Ibis in Pembrokeshire. Scarcity totals involved a White-spotted Bluethroat, a Dotterel, a Common Rosefinch, a Hoopoe, a Grey-headed Wagtail, two Rose-coloured Starlings, two Marsh Warblers, two Long-tailed Skuas and five Red-backed Shrikes. |

| New discoveries today included a female Subalpine Warbler on the Great
Ormes Head, Conwy, and both a Black Kite and a Bee-eater in Kent,
the former near Faversham and the latter at Pegwell Bay.
Lingering rarities included the Red-footed Falcon in Cambridgeshire, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Glossy Ibis in Pembrokeshire, King Eider in Aberdeenshire and Ferruginous Duck in Somerset. Also in Somerset the male Little Bittern was seen at Ham Wall RSPB again. |

| The fourth Paddyfield Warbler for Wales was discovered today in
Gwynedd. It is the third record for Bardsey Island, following singles in 2008
and 2009. A Red-rumped Swallow flew north over Portland Bill, Dorset and
a Black Kite flew west over RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire. Yesterday, a
Black Stork flew east over Pulborough Brooks RSPB, Sussex.

| News was released today of the breeding Little Bitterns in Somerset
which, for the fourth year running (fifth for the male) have returned to Ham
Wall RSPB on the Avalon Marshes.
New rarities discovered today included a heard only Bee-eater over Thorpeness, Suffolk, and a King Eider at Blackdog, Aberdeenshire (which may be the Ythan Estuary individual). Lingering rarities still present today included the Thrush Nightingale at Easington, Yorkshire, Red-footed Falcon at Ouse Fen, Cambridgeshire, River Warbler and Western Subalpine Warbler on Fair Isle, Shetland, Savi's Warbler at Lakenheath Fen RSPB, Suffolk, Bonaparte's Gull at Oare Marshes NR, Kent and Glossy Ibis at Marloes Mere, Pembrokeshire. |

| The highlight of the day was the discovery of a River Warbler on Fair Isle, Shetland Isles, whilst in Essex a Bee-eater flew over Bradwell. Lingering rarities comprised Red-footed Falcon and Savi's Warbler together in Suffolk, Red-footed Falcon in Cambridgeshire, Blue-winged Teal in Clyde, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, and Subalpine Warblers in both Pembrokeshire and the Shetland Isles. Scarcities included Short-toed Lark, Icterine Warbler and Red-backed Shrike in Norfolk, Red-backed Shrike, Corncrake and Ring-necked Duck in East Yorkshire, Hoopoe in Pembrokeshire, Ring-billed Gull in Argyll, and Long-tailed Skuas in Cleveland, off East Yorkshire (5), and Northumberland. The territorial warbler at Newton Abbot, Devon, that yesterday was believed to be a Western Orphean Warbler, was reidentified as a Lesser Whitethroat with an atypical song. |
