  Rarities recorded today comprised the Common Yellowthroat still in Gwent, Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco in Hampshire, Greater Yellowlegs in Aberdeenshire, Paddyfield Warbler in West Sussex, Pallid Harrier in County Galway, Hume's Yellow-browed Warbler in Dorset, Siberian Stonechat and Long-billed Dowitcher in County Wexford, Red-breasted Geese in both Essex and Hampshire, Spotted Sandpiper and Lesser Scaup together in Somerset, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Ferruginous Duck in Buckinghamshire, Ross's Goose in Northumberland, and Glossy Ibises in Cleveland, Dorset (2), Essex, Kent (2), Lancashire, Pembrokeshire (3) and Suffolk.

Scarcities included ten Kumlien's Gulls, four Yellow-browed Warblers, three each of both Rose-coloured Starling and Surf Scoter, as well as single Richard's Pipit (Dorset) and Pectoral Sandpiper (Ayrshire).

  The 21st Short-toed Treecreeper for Kent was discovered today, at Samphire Hoe Country Park. Just five other records have been accepted in Britain (two in Dorset, two in Essex and a single bird in Yorkshire).

An adult Bonaparte's Gull was found in Stornoway, Western Isles, where up to 88 Iceland Gulls have been present recently. Lingering rarities seen today included the Common Yellowthroat in Gwent, Spanish Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco and Red-breasted Goose in Hampshire, Greater Yellowlegs in Aberdeenshire, Siberian Stonechat and two Long-billed Dowitchers in County Wexford, Paddyfield Warbler in Sussex, Bonaparte's Gull in Glamorgan and Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall.

  Three Glossy Ibises in Lincolnshire were the only new rarities discovered today, as they were tracked south along the coast, eventually disappearing out to sea towards Norfolk.

In Aberdeenshire the Greater Yellowlegs reappeared at Loch of Strathbeg RSPB mid afternoon. Other rarity highlights included the Siberian Stonechat in County Wexford, Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco in Hampshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Red-breasted Goose in Suffolk, Lesser Scaup in Gloucestershire and Spotted Sandpiper in Somerset. Glossy Ibises were present in Cleveland, Kent (2), Essex, Norfolk (4), Pembrokeshire (3) and Lancashire.

  Rarities today comprised both the Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco still in Hampshire, Paddyfield Warbler in West Sussex, Siberian Stonechat in County Wexford, Bonaparte's Gull in Glamorgan, Spotted Sandpiper in Somerset, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Lesser Scaup in Gloucestershire, Red-breasted Geese in Dumfries and Galloway, Hampshire and Suffolk, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Black-bellied Dipper in West Yorkshire, and Glossy Ibises in Cleveland, Essex, Norfolk (4) and Suffolk.

Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Anglesey, Ayrshire and Hampshire), American Wigeon (Devon, Dumfries and Galloway, Norfolk and West Yorkshire), Pectoral Sandpiper (Ayrshire), Ring-necked Duck (Cornwall), Yellow-browed Warbler (Cornwall, Somerset and West Sussex) and four Kumlien's Gulls.

  A Black-bellied Dipper at Denso Marston Nature Reserve, West Yorkshire is presumably the bird previously reported in October 2011 at the same site. A brief Glossy Ibis at Broom GPs, Bedfordshire is the first for the county, and completes the English set, with every county now having the species on their list.

Lingering rarities seen today included Siberian Stonechat and two Long-billed Dowitchers in County Wexford, Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco in Hampshire, Hooded Merganser in Kent, Paddyfield Warbler in Sussex, Red-breasted Goose and Ross's Goose in Dumfries and Galloway, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Spotted Sandpiper in Somerset and Glossy Ibises in Suffolk, Norfolk (2) and Dorset (2).

  Lingering rarities confirmed as still present today were the Common Yellowthroat in Gwent, Hooded Merganser in Kent, Bufflehead in Cornwall, Red-breasted Geese in both Hampshire and Suffolk, Bonaparte's Gull in Glamorgan, Spotted Sandpipers in both Dorset and Somerset, two Long-billed Dowitchers in County Wexford, and Glossy Ibises in Dorset (2), Lancashire, Norfolk (4), Pembrokeshire (3) and Suffolk.

Scarcities logged included the Pectoral Sandpiper still in Ayrshire, Rose-coloured Starlings in Anglesey, Ayrshire and Hampshire, Yellow-browed Warblers in Cornwall and Hampshire, 33 Tundra Bean Geese, single American Wigeons in Devon, Norfolk, Orkney Islands and West Yorkshire, whilst gull totals included three Ring-billed, 12 Kumlien's, 13 Glaucous and 112 Iceland.

  A Greater Yellowlegs was seen very briefly at Loch of Strathbeg RSPB, Aberdeenshire this morning, as it flew past the visitor centre, but it couldn't be relocated. This is the second record for the county, following one in 1957 on the Ythan Estuary which was seen alive for a short while, before being found dead later the same day.

Long staying rarities included the Common Yellowthroat in Gwent, Spanish Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco and Red-breasted Goose in Hampshire (with another of the latter in Suffolk), Hooded Merganser in Kent, Bufflehead in Cornwall, Pallid Harrier in County Galway, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, single Bonaparte's Gulls in County Antrim and Glamorgan, Blue-winged Teal in the Isles of Scilly, Lesser Scaup in Glamorgan, three Long-billed Dowitchers in County Wexford, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Spotted Sandpiper in Somerset and Glossy Ibises in Suffolk, Pembrokeshire (3), Norfolk (4) and Lancashire. The Thayer's Gull or hybrid was seen at Taynuilt, Argyll.

  Long staying rarities seen today included the Common Yellowthroat in Gwent, Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco in Hampshire, Paddyfield Warbler in Sussex, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Spotted Sandpiper in Dorset, Lesser Scaup in Glamorgan, Richardson's Canada Goose in Argyll and Glossy Ibises in Suffolk, Pembrokeshire (3) and a new bird in Anglesey.

Scarcity highlights included a Rose-coloured Starling, a Surf Scoter, two Green-winged Teals, two Ring-necked Ducks, three American Wigeon, three Yellow-browed Warblers, three Rough-legged Buzzards, seven Kumlien's Gulls and 11 Great Grey Shrikes.
