Desert Wheatear acquires 'summer plumage' through wear (unlike Northern Wheatear). There's still much pale tipping around the head and mantle/scapulars: is there too much for it to be considered a 'first summer'? Once abraded, this stunning bird will appear even more striking. Lets hope it stays! |
