| Discoveries today were headlined by a Black-faced Bunting on the Orkney Isles on North Ronaldsay, a new Northern Harrier in County Wexford at Lady's Island Lake, Isabelline Wheatear in Aberdeenshire at Collieston, Isabelline Shrike species in Dorset at Gillingham, Fea's Petrel species in Cornwall off The Lizard, Dusky Warbler in County Durham at Blackhall Rocks, Red-rumped Swallow in Essex at The Naze, White-billed Diver in Borders at St Abb's Head, and Bonaparte's Gulls in County Cork at Donemark and County Donegal at Lough Swilly.
In Northumberland the White-winged Scoter reappared in Northumberland at Bamburgh, Blyth's Pipit and Lesser Yellowlegs remained on the Isles of Scilly, as did another Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Red-flanked Bluetail and Radde's Warbler both in East Yorkshire, Arctic Warbler in North Yorkshire, Greenish Warbler on Shetland, Dusky Warblers in County Cork and County Waterford, Eastern Stonechat species in Cornwall and Northumberland, Pallid Harriers in Norfolk and Pembrokeshire, Black Duck in County Mayo, Iberian Chiffchaff in County Cork, Spotted Sandpiper in Fife, and Long-billed Dowitchers in both Devon and Norfolk. |

| New discoveries today included a Barolo Shearwater off Cape Cornwall, Cornwall, a Fea's Petrel species off the Scillonian between Cornwall and Scilly, an Isabelline Shrike species at Sandwich Bay, Kent, a Radde's Warbler at Skirza, Highland, a Dusky Warbler at Burnmouth, Borders, a Red-rumped Swallow at Kettleness, Yorkshire and a Ferruginous Duck at Willen Lake, Buckinghamshire.
Lingering rarities still present included the American Robin and Booted Warbler in Orkney, Iberian Chiffchaff in County Cork, Arctic Warbler and Red-flanked Bluetail in Yorkshire, Dusky Warbler in County Waterford, Greenish Warbler and White-winged Scoter in Shetland, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Scilly and Essex, Spotted Sandpiper in Fife and Long-billed Dowitcher and Pallid Harrier in Norfolk. |

| Another excellent day for eastern rarities with discoveries including a Radde's Warbler in East Yorkshire at Flamborough Head, an Olive-backed Pipit in Norfolk at Holme Dunes, a Red-throated Pipit in County Cork at Knockadoon Head, and Arctic Warblers in North Yorkshire at Saltwick Nab and on Fair Isle, Shetland Isles.
Continuing eastern rarities confirmed as still present were the Blyth's Pipit on the Isles of Scilly, Paddyfield Warbler and Greenish Warbler together on Shetland, Pallid Harriers in Norfolk and Pembrokeshire, Red-flanked Bluetail in East Yorkshire, Radde's Warbler in Dorset, Eastern Stonechat species in both Cornwall and Northumberland, and Dusky Warblers in County Cork, County Waterford, and East Yorkshire. From elsewhere came a Penduline Tit to Porthgwarra, Cornwall, and a Red-rumped Swallow over Flamborough Head whilsting the American Robin was still present on the Orkney Isles, as was a Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Iberian Chiffchaff in County Cork, Lesser Yellowlegs on Scilly, Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk, Bonaparte's Gull in County Antrim, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, and Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire. |

| The highlight of the day was an American Robin at North Ronaldsay, Orkney, Olive-backed Pipit at Loch of Hillwell in Shetland, Dusky Warblers at Brownstown Head, County Waterford, and at Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire, Cackling Goose at Loch Gruinart, Argyll, Eastern Stonechat at Porthgwarra in Cornwall, Red-flanked Bluetail at Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire, and Radde's Warbler at Spurn also in East Yorkshire,

| The highlight of the day was a Brunnich's Guillemot passing Fair Isle, Shetland Isles, and in Norfolk the Long-billed Dowitcher returned to Cley, Norfolk for a third winter.
Continuing rarities confirmed as still present were Blyth's Pipit and Lesser Yellowlegs on the Isles of Scilly, Little Crake and Pallid Harrier in Pembrokeshire, White-winged Scoter and Greenish Warbler both on Shetland, Spotted Sandpiper in Fife, Iberian Chiffchaff and Dusky Warbler in County Cork, Pallid Harrier in Norfolk, Eastern Stonechat species in Northumberland, Long-billed Dowitcher on the Orkney Isles, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, and Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire. |

| In Scilly, a Blyth's Pipit was present on Bryher this afternoon, but wasn't identified until this evening. A Lesser Yellowlegs was also on Bryher, having been found on Tresco earlier. Elsewhere, a Dusky Warbler was a new discovery at Galley Head, County Cork.
Lingering rarities seen today included the Little Crake in Pembrokeshire, Iberian Chiffchaff in County Cork, Red-flanked Bluetail in Cornwall, Greenish Warbler and Coues's Redpoll in Shetland, Eastern Stonechat in Northumberland, Lesser Yellowlegs in Norfolk, Long-billed Dowitcher in Devon, Spotted Sandpiper in Fife, White-winged Scoter in Shetland, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire and Pallid Harriers in Norfolk and Pembrokeshire. |

| Sunday 13th October 2024 | ||

| Find of the day was a Siberian Rubythroat late in the afternoon on North Ronaldsay in Orkney, although it was only seen briefly and could not be relocated by dusk. A drake White-winged Scoter was found at Gosford Bay in Lothian, although probably present for several days. Two Wilson's Snipes were identified on St.Mary's and a Red-throated Pipit flew over Land's End. There was also some late news of a Red-footed Booby on 6th September at sea off County Cork.
The Little Crake remained at Bosherston in Pembrokeshire and the Red-flanked Bluetail was again on The Lizard in Cornwall. Other lingering rarities included Canvasback in Essex, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, White-winged Scoter in Shetland, Pallid Harriers in both Norfolk and Pembrokeshire, Spotted Sandpiper in Fife, Long-billed Dowitcher in Orkney, Eastern Stonechat sp in Northumberland, Radde's Warbler in Dorset and both Paddyfield and Greenish Warblers on Unst in Shetland. |

| New discoveries today included a Red-flanked Bluetail at Kynance Cove in Cornwall, a Bonaparte's Gull at Loch Fleet, Highland, a Radde's Warbler at Portland, Dorset, and a Lesser Scaup at Staines Resr, Surrey.
Lingering rarities included the Little Crake in Pembrokeshire, White-winged Scoter, Paddyfield Warbler and Greenish Warbler in Shetland, Olive-backed Pipit in Scilly, Iberian Chiffchaff in County Cork, two Eastern Stonechats in Northumberland, Canvasback in Essex, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, two Northern Harriers in County Wexford and Pallid Harriers in Norfolk and Pembrokeshire. |

| In Cornwall, the Booted Eagle was seen a few times in the St Just area.
New discoveries today included an Isabelline Wheatear on The Garrison and a Black Kite over St Agnes then St Mary's, Scilly, an Iberian Chiffchaff at Mizen Head and a Black Kite on Cape Clear, County Cork, an Olive-backed Pipit at Sullom, Shetland, a Red-breasted Goose at Loch Gruinart, Argyll, a Pallid Harrier over Osborne Bay, Isle of Wight then Southampton Water, Hampshire and a Ferruginous Duck at Stanford Reservoir on the Leicestershire /Northamptonshire border. A White-winged Scoter was identified at Wadbister, Shetland. Lingering rarities included the Little Crake in Pembrokeshire, Long-billed Dowitchers in Devon and Orkney, Spotted Sandpiper in Fife, Paddyfield Warbler and Greenish Warbler in Shetland, two Olive-backed Pipits in Scilly, two Eastern Stonechats in Northumberland, Canvasback in Essex, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire, Northern Harrier in County Wexford and Pallid Harriers in Norfolk, Yorkshire and Pembrokeshire. |

| A pale morph Booted Eagle discovered today in Cornwall at Nanquidno is made all the more remarkable by being at effectively the same location as a dark morph Booted Eagle was photographed on 20th May 2024 and reported again on 2nd September, as well an earlier pale morph present in the same area on 25th October-28th November 1999.
Discoveries elsewhere inluded a Little Crake in Pembrokeshire at Bosherston, on the Isles of Scilly a South Polar Skua at sea north of the islands and two Olive-backed Pipits together on St Agnes, two Olive-backed Pipits together on the Shetland Isles on Unst, and in County Dublin a Blyth's Reed Warbler at Howth Head. Continuing rarities confirmed as still present were the Wilson's Snipe on Scilly, Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Isabelline Shrike species in East Yorkshire, Booted Warbler on the Orkney Isles, Greenish Warbler on Shetland, two Eastern Stonechat species in Northumberland, Pallid Harrier in Pembrokeshire, Canvasback in Essex, Spotted Sandpiper in Fife, Long-billed Dowitcher in Devon, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, and Ferruginous Ducks in Leicestershire (2) and Warwickshire. |
