Sensational news this evening of a Black-winged Kite in Norfolk at Hickling Broad; this follows the first for Britain present at Glanmule, Powys on 18th April. Other discoveries today included a Pacific Golden Plover confirmed in County Cork at Ballycotton, Caspian Tern in Nottinghamshire at Misson, two Bee-eaters in Cornwall at Land's End, and a Wilson's Petrel at sea off Slea Head, County Kerry. Rarities elsewhere comprised the Black-winged Pratincole still in County Donegal, Least Tern and Caspian Tern in County Dublin, Long-billed Dowitchers in Lancashire and Norfolk, King Eider in Lothian, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Lesser Scaup in Norfolk, and Black-winged Stilts in Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire (11), and South Yorkshire (6). Scarcities included Short-toed Lark and Red-backed Shrike (Orkney Isles), American Golden Plover (Pembrokeshire), Purple Heron (Northumberland), Rose-coloured Starling (Argyll), American Wigeon (Lincolnshire), Ring-necked Duck (Glamorgan), Glossy Ibis (Norfolk), two each of both Night Heron and Cory's Shearwater, and four Pectoral Sandpipers. |

The highlight of the day was confirmation of a Black-winged Pratincole in County Donegal at Blanket Nook; the third record for Ireland. Rarities elsewhere comprised a Barolo Shearwater in Cornwall again passing Porthgwarra, a Long-billed Dowitcher new in Lancashire at Leighton Moss, Least Tern and Caspian Tern both still in County Dublin, a Baltic Gull in Lincolnshire at Whisby, Long-billed Dowitcher and three Bee-eaters still in Norfolk, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, and Black-winged Stilts in Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire (10), and South Yorkshire (6). Scarcities included Night Heron (South Yorkshire), Purple Heron (Northumberland), American Wigeon (Lincolnshire), Ring-necked Duck (South Yorkshire), Great Shearwater (Cornwall), Long-tailed Skua (Kent), two Rose-coloured Starlings, eight Pectoral Sandpipers, and a total of 38 Cory's Shearwaters. |

| Seawatching today produced single Barolo Shearwaters off Porthgwarra, Cornwall and Brandon Point, County Kerry, two Wilson's Petrels also off the latter site and another off Kilcummin Head, County Mayo, along with totals of 42 Cory's Shearwaters, four Great Shearwaters, around 297 Balearic Shearwaters (including 248 off Start Point, Devon) and a Pomarine Skua.
Elsewhere, the Forster's Tern reappeared at Lytchett Bay, Dorset and an Alpine Swift was at Bembridge, Isle of Wight. Lingering rarities included the Least Tern and Caspian Tern in County Dublin, pratincole species in County Donegal, Black Duck in County Mayo, Lesser Scaup, three Bee-eaters and Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk, Black-winged Stilts in Yorkshire (eight), Lincolnshire (ten) and Gloucestershire and Bonaparte's Gull in Kent. Scarcity highlights included a White-spotted Bluethroat, a Red-backed Shrike, a Rose-coloured Starling, a Purple Heron, three Night Herons, two Glossy Ibises, a Ring-necked Duck, a Tundra Bean Goose and three Pectoral Sandpipers. |

Discoveries today included three Wilson's Petrels one in Cornwall (Porthgwarra), and two in County Cork (Seven Heads), Pratincole sp in County Donegal at Blanket Nook, aswell as this, a late report of a Turkestan Shrike in Flintshire near Gronant, two possible Baltic Gulls in Northumberland at Longhoughton Steel ,and a Pelican sp of unknown origin in North Yorkshire flew past Long Nab. Rarities elsewhere included the Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Lesser Scaup in Norfolk, Caspian Tern in County Dublin, two or more Black-winged Stilts in Lincolnshire and Gloustershire, Least Tern in County Dublin, three Bee-Eaters in Norfolk, and Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk. Scarcity highlights included a Roseate Tern, 14 Roseate Terns, 376 Balearic Shearwaters, two Pectoral Sandpipers, Purple Heron, Honey Buzzard, Ring-necked Duck, Temminck's Stint, Rose-coloured Starling, and 11 Cory's Shearwaters. |

Rarities today comprised the Pacific Golden Plover still on the Orkney Isles, Caspian Tern again in County Dublin, Long-billed Dowitcher and three Bee-eaters still in Norfolk, King Eider in Lothian, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Lesser Scaups in both Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, Wilson's Petrels at sea off County Cork (3) and the Isles of Scilly, and Black-winged Stilts in Lincolnshire (8) South Yorkshire (6). Scarcities included Purple Heron (Northumberland), two each of Great Shearwater, Night Heron, and Ring-necked Duck, three Long-tailed Skuas, four Glossy Ibises, five Pectoral Sandpipers, and a total of 70 Cory's Shearwaters. |

Rarities today comprised Long-billed Dowitcher, Lesser Scaup, and two Caspian Terns all still in Norfolk, King Eider still in Lothian, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Wilson's Petrel in County Kerry, Bee-eaters in both County Durham and Norfolk (3), and Black-winged Stilts in Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire (10), South Yorkshire (6). Scarcities included Purple Heron (Northumberland), Pectoral Sandpiper (Norfolk), Glossy Ibis (Kent), Ring-necked Ducks (Glamorgan and Suffolk), and a total of five Cory's Shearwaters. Significant late news concerned a Spotted Sandpiper on Saturday in Borders at Birgham Dub. |

The highlight of the day was Caspian Terns with two together in Norfolk at Breydon Water and in Northumberland two together at East Chevington. Rarities elsewhere comprised the Least Tern still in County Dublin, Roller still on the Isle of Wight, American Black Tern in Northumberland, Pacific Golden Plover on the Orkney Isles, Long-billed Dowitcher and three Bee-eaters in Norfolk, Alpine Swift in Cumbria, King Eider in Lothian, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Wilson's Petrels in Cornwall (2) and off the Isles of Scilly (5), and Black-winged Stilts in Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire, and South Yorkshire (6). Scarcities included White-winged Black Tern (County Wexford), Rose-coloured Starling (Shetland Isles), Common Rosefinch (Highland), Purple Heron (Northumberland), Pectoral Sandpiper (Cleveland), Temminck's Stint (East Yorkshire), Cory's Shearwater (Devon), Glossy Ibis (Suffolk), two Night Herons, and three Great Shearwaters. Significant late news concerned a Barolo Shearwater heard singing overnight on Cape Clear, County Cork. |

Rarities elsewhere included the American Black Tern in Northumberland, Black-winged Stilts in Gloucestershire (1), Linolnshire (3+), and South Yorkshire (6), Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk, Roller on the Isle of Wight, Caspian Tern in County Dublin, three Bee-Eaters in Norfolk, and Lesser Scaup in Norfolk. Discoveries today included a Pacific Golden Plover in East Yorkshire at Spurn, a Caspian Tern in County Dublin at Swords Estuary, a Great Reed Warbler reported in Gloucestershire at Tidenham Chase, and two Wilson's Petrels flew past Strumble Head, Pembrokeshire. Rarities elsewhere comprised the Least Tern still in County Dublin, Roller still on the Isle of Wight, American Black Tern in Northumberland, Long-billed Dowitcher and Lesser Scaup in Norfolk, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Black-winged Stilt in Gloucestershire and South Yorkshire (2), and Bee-eaters in Kent and Norfolk (3). Scarcities included White-winged Black Tern (Aberdeenshire), Common Rosefinch (Highland), American Wigeon (Lincolnshire), Purple Heron (Northumberland), Rose-coloured Starling (North Yorkshire), Red-backed Shrike (Orkney Isles), Ring-necked Duck (Suffolk), two each of Night Heron, Pectoral Sandpiper, and Great Shearwater, and a total of six Glossy Ibises. |

The Pacific Swift put in another appearance on Shetland today, again on Mainland, this time over the Pool of Virkie, although it did not stick around. A Roller was found at Brading Marshes on the Isle of Wight and a Marsh Sandpiper was discovered at Dungeness in Kent, where a Caspian Tern flew south over North Foreland. In Cornwall a Bee-eater flew over St. Levan. Wilson's Petrels flew past the Mullet in County Mayo, Galley Head in County Cork and Pendeen in Cornwall. The Least Tern was again in the Little Tern colony at Portrane in County Dublin. Other lingering rarities included the Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, the Lesser Scaup and Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk and Pacific Golden Plover in Orkney.
