On the Shetland Isles a White's Thrush was new on Mainland at Lerwick, a Myrtle Warbler remained nearby along with Ring-necked Duck, probable Homeyer's Great Grey Shrike, and two Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls, with on Unst an Ortolan Bunting. On the Isles of Scilly the Swainson's Thrush remained on Tresco, a Radde's Warbler and three Common Rosefinches were on St Mary's, and at sea a total of 23 Cory's Shearwaters. Discoveries elsewhere included a Radde's Warbler in Dorset at Portland Bill, and a Long-billed Dowitcher in Northumberland at Caistron. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the probable Alder Flycatcher in County Galway, Red-eyed Vireo in County Clare, both Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler and Blyth's Reed Warbler in the Western Isles, Forster's Tern in County Louth, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Red-footed Falcon in Kent, Black Kite in Cornwall, Bonaparte's Gull in County Kerry, Lesser Yellowlegs in both Cornwall (2) and Cleveland, and in County Westmeath the Egyptian Vulture was reported at Athlone. |

The mega alert went off twice with the discovery of an adult male Balitmore Oriole on Lundy Island, Devon and over in Ireland a Tyrant Flycatcher species was discovered at Inishbofin, County Galway. New rarities included a Long-billed Dowitcher in Gwynedd trapped and ringed at The Spinnies NWWT, Pallid Harrier in Dorset, Baird’s Sandpiper in Hampshire, adult Bonaparte’s Gull in County Kerry, Black Kite in Cornwall, American Buff-bellied Pipit on Scilly and Hornemann’s Arctic Redpolls on Shetland and Orkney. Lingering rarities included Pallas’s Grasshopper Warbler on St Kilda, Swainson’s Thrush and Greenish Warbler on Scilly, Red-footed Falcon in Kent and Norfolk, Forster’s Tern in County Louth, Myrtle Warbler on Shetland, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Olive-backed Pipit on Shetland and Hornemann’s Arctic Redpolls on Shetland and Orkney. |

| The first Least Bittern for Britain was discovered in Shetland mid afternoon, in Scousburgh Sands car park. It soon moved into nearby grass, where it remained until early evening at which point it was deemed too weak to survive without assistance, and was taken into care.
Nearby, at Bigton, a second Myrtle Warbler was found (by the same birder) a few hundred yards from the lingering bird. New Olive-backed Pipits were at Brae and on Fair Isle, whilst lingering rarities in the archipelago included the Eastern Stonechat species, another Olive-backed Pipit, three Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls, probable Homeyer's Great Grey Shrike and the King Eider. New discoveries elsewhere included a Swainson's Thrush on The Mullet, County Mayo, an American Buff-bellied Pipit and three Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls on North Ronaldsay and a Pallid Harrier near Wideford, Mainland, Orkney, a Baird's Sandpiper and a Dowitcher species at Kilmore, County Kerry, a Spotted Sandpiper and a Blyth's Reed Warbler in Western Isles (the former on St Kilda, the latter on Lewis), two Lesser Yellowlegs on the Hayle Estuary, Cornwall and a Wilson's Petrel flew past Bridges of Ross, County Clare. Other lingering rarities seen today included the Swainson's Thrush and Greenish Warbler in Scilly, Kentish Plover in Somerset, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cleveland, Black Scoter in Northumberland and Red-footed Falcon in Kent. |

Bird of the day was a Swainson's Thrush on the Isles of Scilly on Tresco, with nearby the Greenish Warbler still on St Agnes, Common Rosefinch on St Mary's, and four Wrynecks around the islands, whilst at sea there a Fea's/Desertas Petrel, at least 500 Cory's Shearwaters, 350 Great Shearwaters, and three Grey Phalaropes were logged. Discoveries elsewhere included a Baird's Sandpiper in County Cork at Ballycotton, Citrine Wagtail in Cornwall at Marazion, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire at Belvide Reservoir, and in Kent now two Red-footed Falcons together at Elmley. A Marbled Duck in Lincolnshire at Woodhall Spa has been present there since 27th September. On the Shetland Isles the Myrtle Warbler remained on Mainland along with Eastern Stonechat, Barred Warbler, probable Homeyer's Great Grey Shrike, two Bluethroats, and three Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls, on Out Skerries on Olive-backed Pipit, two Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls on Foula, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll on Yell, American Golden Plover, Buff-breasted Sandpiper, and three Glossy Ibises all on Fetlar, Ortolan Bunting and Glossy Ibis on Unst, and American Golden Plover on Fair Isle. Lingering rarities elsewhere comprised the Pallid Harrier in Dumfries and Galloway, Spotted Sandpiper in Hampshire, Baird's Sandpiper in Aberdeenshire, Semipalmated Sandpiper in County Mayo, Red-footed Falcon in Norfolk, Blue-winged Teal in London, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cleveland, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Kentish Plover in Somerset, and Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire. |

The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Myrtle Warbler on the Shetland Isles at Ellister with elsewhere on Mainland Pechora Pipit, Eastern Stonechat species, Bluethroat, King Eider, the probable Homeyer's Great Grey Shrike, two Olive-backed Pipits, and a total of six Hornemann's Actic Redpolls. Around the islands were Blyth's Reed Warbler, Ortolan Bunting. Bluethroat, and six Glossy Ibises on Unst, Olive-backed Pipit on Out Skerries, American Golden Plover and Bluethroat on Fair Isle, and on Fetlar American Golden Plover, Buff-breasted Sandpiper, and Pectoral Sanpdiper. On the Isles of Scilly the Greenish Warbler remains on St Agnes, Little Bunting on St Martin's, Wryneck on St Mary's, and seawatching produced 26 Cory's Shearwaters and 62 Great Shearwaters. Discoveries elsewhere included a Spotted Sandpiper in Dorset at Lodmoor, a Baird's Sandpiper in County Wexford at Tacumshin, an Eastern Stonechat species in County Durham at Blackhall Rocks, and in County Clare two Barolo Shearwaters flew past the Bridges of Ross. Lingering rarities included the Pallid Harrier in Dumfries and Galloway, Semipalmated Sandpiper in County Mayo, Red-footed Falcon in Kent, Forster's Tern in County Louth, Blue-winged Teal in London, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cleveland, Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire, and two Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls together on the Orkney Isles. |

On the Shetland Isles a Lanceolated Warbler was new at Wester Quarff whilst elsewhere on Mainland Pechora Pipit, Eastern Stonechat species, King Eider, Barred Warbler, the probable Homeyer's Great Grey Shrike, and three Hornemann's Actic Redpolls. On Out Skerries an Olive-backed Pipit, on Fair Isle American Golden Plover, Bluethroat, and Corncrake, and on Unst Ortolan Bunting, Bluethroat, and Barred Warbler. On the Isles of Scilly a Greenish Warbler was new on St Agnes, Little Bunting on St Martin's, and two Common Rosefinches on St Mary's, whilst an incredible sea passage included an estimated 2,522 Great Shearwaters, 183 Cory's Shearwaters, 200 Balearic Shearwaters, and 400 Sooty Shearwaters. Discoveries elsewhere included Semipalmated Sandpiper in County Mayo at Achill Island, Red-footed Falcon in Kent at Elmley, and on the Western Isles an American Buff-bellied Pipit joined the Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler on St Kilda. Lingering rarities included Radde's Warbler and Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll on the Orkney Isles, Pallid Harrier in Dumfries and Galloway, Spotted Sandpiper in Hampshire, Forster's Tern in County Louth, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Blue-winged Teal in London, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cleveland, Kentish Plover in Somerset, and Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire. |

| In Shetland, new discoveries included a Pechora Pipit at Hillswick, an Eastern Yellow Wagtail at Gott, a Coues's Arctic Redpoll at Boddam, all Mainland and a Blyth's Reed Warbler at Norwick, Unst, with lingering rarities in the archipalago including Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler, two Olive-backed Pipits, six Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls, Eastern Stonechat species, King Eider, and the probable Homeyer's Great Grey Shrike. Scarcities there included a Common Rosefinch, an Ortolan Bunting, two Lapland Buntings, three Bluethroats, five Barred Warblers, two American Golden Plovers and a Glaucous Gull.
Elsewhere, new rarities included a Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler on St Kilda, Western Isles, an Olive-backed Pipit at Nanjizal, Cornwall, a Blyth's Reed Warbler at Spurn, Yorkshire and a Spotted Sandpiper at Farlington, Hampshire (for its third day). Other lingerers included two Red-eyed Vireos in County Clare, Long-billed Dowitcher in Cornwall, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cleveland, Kentish Plover in Somerset, Blue-winged Teal in London, Olive-backed Pipit in Orkney and Pallid Harrier in Dumfries and Galloway. Away from Shetland scarcity totals were a Bluethroat, a Little Bunting, two Wrynecks, two Barred Warblers, two Common Rosefinches, thee Red-backed Shrikes, four Lapland Buntings, an American Golden Plover, three Buff-breasted Sandpipers, five Grey Phalaropes, eight Pectoral Sandpipers, a Purple Heron, nine Glossy Ibises, a Honey Buzzard, an American Wigeon, two Ring-necked Ducks, a Tundra Bean Goose, a Sabine's Gull, a Leach's Petrel, a Long-tailed Skua, 40 Balearic Shearwaters, at least 216 Great Shearwaters and at least 239 Cory's Shearwaters. |

New rarities included Lesser Yellowlegs in Cleveland, Red-eyed Vireos in County Clare and County Galway, Blackpoll Warbler in Cornwall along with a Long-billed Dowitcher, on Orkney there were 2 Hornemann’s Arctic Redpolls and a Lanceolated Warbler whilst on Shetland there was an Eastern Yellow Wagtail, 2 Hornemann’s Arctic Redpolls and 4 Olive-backed Pipits. Lingering rarities included Baltimore Oriole and Red-eyed Vireo in County Clare, Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, Pallid Harrier in Dumfries and Galloway, Blue-winged Teal in London, King Eider in Lothian, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Dusky Warbler and Eastern Stonechat sp on Shetland and a couple Hornemann’s Arctic Redpolls across Shetland also. |

The top spot must be shared by 3 species today, in County Clare a Baltimore Oriole was found at Kibaha, in County Cork a Bobolink was found at Garinish Point and in Shetland late news of a first-winter male Siberian Thrush at Mid Yell. New rarities included a Red-eyed Vireo in County Clare, Baird’s Sandpiper in County Kerry, Rustic Bunting in Norfolk, Lanceolated Warbler on Orkney, Dusky Warbler on Shetland, 4 Olive-backed Pipits (3 on Shetland and 1 in Dorset) and 3 Hornemann’s Arctic Redpolls all on Shetland. Lingering rarities included the Pallas’s Grasshopper Warbler and Red-flanked Bluetail on Fair Isle, Blue-winged Teal in London, Kentish Plover in Somerset, Swainson’s Thrush on Shetland, Pied-billed Grebe in Argyll, Forster’s Tern in County Louth, Eastern Stonechat sp on Shetland, Black Scoter off Northumberland and many Hornemann’s Arctic Redpolls across Shetland and Orkney. |

| New discoveries today included a Pallid Harrier at Point of Lag, Dumfries and Galloway, an Olive-backed Pipit on St Mary's, Isles of Scilly and a Radde's Warbler at Benacre, Suffolk. The Great Grey Shrike present at Hillswick, Shetland since Wednesday is now thought to be of the form homeyeri.
Lingering rarities included the Swainson's Thrush and two Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls in Shetland, Blue-winged Teal in London and Kentish Plover in Somerset. Scarcity highlights included an Ortolan Bunting, a Bluethroat, an Icterine Warbler, a Red-breasted Flycatcher, a Common Rosefinch, a Rose-coloured Starling, two Wrynecks, two Red-backed Shrikes, three Richard's Pipits, three Barred Warblers, a Purple Heron, eight Glossy Ibises, a Ring-necked Duck, a Honey Buzzard, an American Golden Plover, six Pectoral Sandpipers, three Red-necked Phalaropes, eight Grey Phalaropes, a Leach's Petrel, three Sabine's Gulls, three Long-tailed Skuas and nine Pomarine Skuas. |
