| New rarities discovered today were a Tawny Pipit briefly on the Isles of Scilly on Bryher, and
in Aberdeenshire now 11 White-billed Divers at Portsoy. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present comprised the Double-crested Cormorant in County Kerry, Belted Kingfisher in County Cork, White-throated Sparrow in East Sussex, American Herring Gull in Cornwall, Bee-eater on the Isles of Scilly, Spotted Sandpiper in Ayrshire, Long-billed Dowitcher in North Yorkshire, Lesser Scaup in County Fermanagh, and a White-billed Diver on the Orkney Isles. Scarcities included Night Heron (Devon), Wryneck (Dorset), Ring-billed Gull (Western Isles), Grey Phalarope (Norfolk), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two Serin, four each of both Hoopoe and Surf Scoter, five of Little Bunting and Green-winged Teal, nine Glossy Ibises, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, and a total of 12 Lapland Buntings. Significant late news concerned an Iberian Chiffchaff yesterday singing in Suffolk at Sizewell. |

| The highlight of the day was news of Hornemann's Arctic Redpolls in Highland at Lochinver, and on Foula, Shetland Isles, making a total of four
now discovered in northern Scotland since 11th April. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present comprised the White-throated Sparrow in East Sussex, American Herring Gull in Cornwall, Bufflehead in County Cork, Citrine Wagtail and Bee-eater on the Isles of Scilly, Spotted Sandpiper in Ayrshire, Dusky Warbler in Merseyside, Lesser Scaup in County Fermanagh, and White-billed Divers in Moray (7) and the Orkney Isles (2). Scarcities incldued Night Heron (Devon), American Wigeon (Cleveland), Montagu's Harrier (Dorset), Lapland Bunting (Highland), Corncrake (Cornwall), Grey Phalarope (Norfolk), two Wrynecks, three Hoopoes, four each of Little Bunting, Surf Scoter, Ring-necked Duck, and Green-winged Teal, and a total of seven Glossy Ibises. |

| New rarities discovered today comprised a Citrine Wagtail on the Isles of Scilly on Bryher, a Lesser Scaup in County Fermanagh at Lower Lough Erne, and in Lothian a
White-billed Diver at Aberlady Bay. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the White-throated Sparrow in East Sussex, American Herring Gull in Cornwall, Two-barred Crossbill in Nottinghamshire, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll on the Shetland Isles, Penduline Tit in Somerset, Bee-eater on the Isles of Scilly, Spotted Sandpiper in Ayrshire, and Dusky Warbler in Merseyside. Scarcities included American Wigeon (Cleveland), Montagu's Harrier (Dorset), Grey Phalarope (Norfolk), Honey Buzzard (Pembrokeshire), Little Auk (Northumberland), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two each of both Night Heron and Wryneck, three Hoopoe, four Little Buntings, five Green-winged Teals, six Surf Scoters, 10 Glossy Ibises, 13 Ring-necked Ducks, and 14 Lapland Buntings. |

Red-rumped Swallow in Kent, and Bee-eaters briefly in both Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Scarcities included Night Heron (Devon), Wryneck (Suffolk), American Wigeon (Shetland Isles), Black Brant (County Dublin), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two each of Hoopoe, Great Grey Shrike, and Grey Phalarope, three Surf Scoters, five Green-winged Teals, six Little Buntings, nine Glossy Ibises, 10 Ring-necked Ducks, and a total of 27 Lapland Buntings. |

The subadult male Pallid Harrier made another appearance in north Kent, at Seasalter for a few moments in the afternoon. The day's continuing rarities comprised Double-crested Cormorant in Co.Kerry, Belted Kingfisher in Co.Cork, American Herring Gull in Cornwall, White-throated Sparrow in Sussex, Bufflehead in Co.Cork, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll in Shetland, Spotted Sandpiper in Ayrshire, Bonaparte's Gull in Gloucestershire and Dusky Warbler in Merseyside. Other highlights included Wryneck (Cornwall), two Hoopoes and two Night Herons. Among other national news were Surf Scoter (Conwy), American Wigeon (Shetland), Green-winged Teal (East Yorkshire), Todd's Canada Goose (Western Isles), Grey Phalarope (Suffolk), Glossy Ibis (Dorset), two Great Grey Shrikes, four Little Buntings and 12 Ring-necked Ducks. |

| New rarities discovered today comprised a Savi's Warbler in Lincolnshire at Alkborough Flats, a
Kentish Plover in Cornwall on The Lizard, and a Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll
on the Shetland Isles at Voe, Mainland. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present comprised the White-throated Sparrow in East Sussex, American Herring Gull in Cornwall, Pied-billed Grebe in Argyll, Two-barred Crossbill in Nottinghamshire, Bonaparte's Gull in Gloucestershire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Devon, single White-billed Divers in both Aberdeenshire and Moray, and two Richardson's Cackling Geese together on the Western Isles. Scarities included Honey Buzzard (North Yorkshire), Shorelark (Northumberland), Grey Phalarope (Suffolk), Great Grey Shrike (Shropshire), Snow Goose (Western Isles), two each of Night Heron, Hoopoe, Dotterel, American Wigeon, and Surf Scoter, four Little Buntings, six Green-winged Teals, nine Glossy Ibises, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, and a total of 24 Lapland Buntings. Incomong spring migrants included Whinchat (Devon), Lesser Whitethroat (Isle of Wight), two each of Wood Warbler, Arctic Tern, and Blue-headed Wagtail, four Little Terns, and a total of 46 Garganey. |

| A Brunnich's Guillemot flew past North Ronaldsay, Orkney.
Lingering rarities seen today included the White-throated Sparrow in Sussex, American Herring Gull in Cornwall, White-winged Scoter in Lothian, Bonaparte's Gull in Gloucestershire, Two-barred Crossbill in Nottinghamshire, Dusky Warbler in Norfolk, Spotted Sandpiper in Ayrshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Devon and White-billed Diver in Orkney. Scarcity highlights included two Hoopoes, two Great Grey Shrikes, four Little Buntings, four Shorelarks, 11 Lapland Buntings, two Little Auks, three Grey Phalaropes, a Night Heron, five Glossy Ibises, a Rough-legged Buzzard, a Surf Scoter, an American Wigeon, three Green-winged Teal, 12 Ring-necked Ducks, a Black Brant, a Taiga Bean Goose, two Tundra Bean Geese, a Ring-billed Gull, ten Glaucous Gulls and 32 Iceland Gulls. |

There was no sign of the Northern Mockingbird in its favoured garden in Exmouth this morning but, amazingly, it was swiftly relocated after its overnight departure to bushes by the River Arun in Pulborough, West Sussex. After the initial news late morning, it was relocated at lunchtime and performed well till dusk. A subadult male Pallid Harrier flew through Reculver in Kent and a Black Kite was seen over Snitterfield in Warwickshire. Nottinghamshire produced a female Two-barred Crossbill at Thoresby Pit Top. The American Herring Gull in Cornwall, Spotted Sandpiper in Ayrshire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Co.Wexford, Bonaparte's Gull in Gloucestershire, Western Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall and Red-rumped Swallow in Kent were all still present. There was late news of the Double-crested Cormorant still in Co.Kerry yesterday, as well as one of the Penduline Tits in Somerset. There was also reliable word that the White-throated Sparrow had been seen at Barcombe, Sussex, in recent days. Scarcities included Buff-breasted Sandpiper (Wiltshire), Serin (Cornwall), Hoopoe (Cornwall), Wryneck (Kent), Rough-legged Buzzard (Co.Durham), Ring-billed Gull (Lothian), Todd's Canada Goose (Northumberland), Taiga Bean Goose (Suffolk), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), American Wigeon (Shetland), two Great Grey Shrikes and Yellow-browed Warblers, three Shorelarks (together in Norfolk), three Little Buntings and Grey Phalaropes, four Green-winged Teal, five Glossy Ibises and 14 Ring-necked Ducks. |

Red-rumped Swallows together in Kent, two Richardson's Cackling Geese
together on the Western Isles, and three White-billed Divers together on the Orkney Isles. Scarcities included Buff-breasted Sandpiper (Wiltshire), Purple Heron (Essex), Night Heron (Isle of Wight), Bluethroat (Northumberland), Richard's Pipit (Cheshire), Serin (Cornwall), Wryneck (Pembrokeshire), Sabine's Gull (Moray), Taiga Bean Goose (Suffolk), two each of Little Bunting, Hoopoe, Yellow-browed Warbler, and Great Grey Shrike, three of Grey Phalarope, four of Surf Scoter and Green-winged Teal, five Glossy Ibises, 12 Lapland Buntings, and a total of 13 Ring-necked Ducks. Incoming spring migrants included Wood Warbler (West Sussex), Little Tern (Hampshire), Nightingale (Kent), Grasshopper Warbler (London), two each of Blue-headed Wagtail and Cuckoo, four Hobbies, five Pied Flycatchers, and a total of 41 Garganey. Significant late news concerned a Great Spotted Cuckoo sound-recorded at Stroud, Gloucestershire in the early hours of 31st March. |
