| Lingering rarities seen today included the Great Spotted Cuckoo on the Isle of Wight, Blue-winged Teal and Black Duck in Highland, Pied-billed Grebe in Argyll, Two-barred Crossbill (or hybrid) in Staffordshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford and Bonaparte's Gull in County Donegal.
Scarcity highlights included a Pallas's Warbler, a Lapland Bunting, three Great Grey Shrikes, 16 Shorelarks, a Night Heron, three White Storks, a Rough-legged Buzzard, two Tundra Bean Geese, two Snow Geese, a Surf Scoter, two Green-winged Teals, four Ring-necked Ducks, four Glossy Ibises, two Kumlien's Gulls, seven Glaucous Gulls and 11 Iceland Gulls. |

Continuing rarities reported today comprised the Black Duck in Highland, Great Spotted Cuckoo on the Isle of Wight, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Black Scoter in Co.Kerry, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and both Lesser Yellowlegs, in Dorset and Cornwall. Among the best of the rest were three White Storks, three Glossy Ibises, two Serins (Lincolnshire and Kent), two Hoopoes (Co.Cork and Dorset), six Shorelarks, two Rough-legged Buzzards, Pallas's Warbler and Temminck's Stint (both Cornwall), three Great Grey Shrikes, an American Wigeon, three Green-winged Teal, four Ring-necked Ducks, a Snow Goose, a Tundra Bean Goose, Ring-billed Gull, Kumlien's Gull, three Iceland Gulls and four Glaucous Gulls. The first Garden Warbler and Reed Warbler of the year arrived in Dorset, while the pick of other spring arrivals included two Sedge Warblers, two Whitethroats, 34 Garganey, 12 Ospreys, a Hobby, three Common Terns, a Yellow Wagtail and three Ring Ouzels. |

A strong contingent of ongoing rarities included the Great Spotted Cuckoo on the Isle of Wight, Pacific Diver in Co.Cork, Pied-billed Grebe in Shetland, Blue-winged Teal in Highland, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and Lesser Yellowlegs in both Cornwall and Dorset. The supporting cast was made up of Hoopoe in Dorset, Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), Rough-legged Buzzard (Norfolk), Serin (Cornwall), five Great Grey Shrikes, Pallas's Warbler (Cornwall), nine Shorelarks, three Glossy Ibises, three White Storks, a Black Brant, a Surf Scoter, two American Wigeon, four Green-winged Teal, three Ring-necked Ducks, three Ring-billed Gulls, a Kumlien's Gull, six Iceland Gulls, five Glaucous Gulls and White-tailed Eagle (Norfolk). As for spring migrants, arrivals included a Tree Pipit, three Yellow Wagtails, seven Ring Ouzels, a Swift, a Sedge Warbler, five Ospreys and an influx of Garganey which brought the day's national total to 82 birds. |

| Rarities today comprised the Great Spotted Cuckoo still on the Isle of Wight, a Red-rumped Swallow
briefly in County Cork, Blue-winged Teal still in Highland, Spotted Sandpiper in County Waterford,
Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset,
Lesser Scaup Somerset, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire and a Coues's Arctic Redpoll
new at Thorne Moors, South Yorkshire. Scarcities included Night Heron (Isles of Scilly), Serin (Norfolk), Rough-legged Buzzard (Norfolk), Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), American Wigeon (Worcestershire), Hoopoe (Dorset), Black Brant, Green-winged Teal, three Ring-necked Ducks, four Ring-billed Gulls, five Glossy Ibises and Great Grey Shrikes and 11 Shorelarks. Incoming summer migrants included Common Tern (Wiltshire), Whitethroat (London) and Swift (Dorset), two each of both Tree Pipit, Yellow Wagtail and Sedge Warbler, seven Ospreys, eight Ring Ouzels and a total of 17 Garganey. |

| Rarities today comprised the Great Spotted Cuckoo still on the Isle of Wight,
Bonaparte's Gull in County Donegal, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire,
Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, and in Highland a
White-billed Diver new in Dunnet Bay. Scarcities included White-tailed Eagle (North Yorkshire), Rough-legged Buzzard (Norfolk), Ring-necked Duck (Surrey), Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), two each of both Little Bunting and Hoopoe, four of Ring-billed Gull and Great Grey Shrike, and five of Glossy Ibis and Shorelark. Incoming summer migrants included Turtle Dove (Devon), Pied Flycatcher (Ceredigion), Tree Pipit (Dorset), Lesser Whitethroat (Somerset), Cuckoo (Cambridgeshire), Sedge Warbler (Suffolk), two Whinchats, five House Martins, seven Ospreys, 12 each of both Ring Ouzel and Willow Warbler, and a total of 26 Garganey. |

| Rarities today comprised a Bonaparte's Gull present for a second day in Devon at Wrafton, the Great Spotted Cuckoo still on the Isle of Wight,
Pacific Diver in County Cork, Blue-winged Teal in Highland, Red-rumped Swallow in Cornwall,
Penduline Tit in Kent, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset,
Lesser Scaup in Somerset and Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Cornwall), Pectoral Sandpiper and Temminck's Stint (all Cornwall), White-tailed Eagle (Hertfordshire), Hoopoe (Dorset), Shorelark (East Yorkshire), Lapland Bunting (Norfolk), Surf Scoter (Lothian), two each of Little Bunting, Rough-legged Buzzard and Ring-billed Gull, five of Ring-necked Duck and Great Grey Shrike, and a total of eight Glossy Ibises. Incoming summer migrants included Pied Flycatcher and Redstart (together on the Isle of Wight), Lesser Whitethroat (East Yorkshire), Tree Pipit (Dorset), three Whitethroats, four Ospreys, five House Martins, 11 Willow Warblers, 12 Ring Ouzels and a total of 36 Garganey. Significant late news concerned a Red-throated Pipit yesterday in Highland that was sound-recorded flying over Nethybridge in the early hours. |

Penduline Tit in Kent, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, both Black Duck and
Blue-winged Teal still in Highland, Ferruginous Duck in Warwickshire,
Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and Lesser Yellowlegs in both Dorset and Somerset. Scarcities included Little Bunting (County Cork), Hoopoe (London), White-tailed Eagle (Kent), Wryneck (Cornwall), Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), American Wigeon (Leicestershire), Surf Scoter (County Meath), three each of Ring-billed Gull and Yellow-browed Warbler, four Rough-legged Buzzards, six of Great Grey Shrike and Glossy Ibis, eight Ring-necked Ducks and 12 Shorelarks. Incoming spring migrants included Hobby (East Sussex), Tree Pipit (Hertfordshire), three Sedge Warblers, four Willow Warblers, six Ospreys, eight Ring Ouzels, and a total of 46 Garganey. |

| A Red-flanked Bluetail was trapped and ringed at Landguard NR, Suffolk mid morning, whilst a Two-barred Crossbill was on Cannock Chase, Staffordshire and a Coues's Arctic Redpoll was in Wells Woods, Norfolk.
Lingering rarities included the Great Spotted Cuckoo on the Isle of Wight, Penduline Tit in Kent, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Pacific Divers in Cornwall and County Cork, Pied-billed Grebe in Argyll, Black Duck and Blue-winged Teal in Highland, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, Forster's Tern in County Galway, Bonaparte's Gull in County Donegal, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford and Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire. |

| Highlight of the day was the lingering Great Spotted Cuckoo
on Isle of Wight. The Blue-winged Teal (Highland),
Ferruginous Duck (Staffordshire), Lesser Scaup
(Somerset), Penduline Tit (Kent), Lesser Yellowlegs
(Cornwall and Dorset) and Long-billed Dowitcher (Lincolnshire)
all remained on show. The best of the rest included Serin (Portland), Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), Grey Phalarope (Conwy), Rough-legged Buzzard (Norfolk), Kumlien's Gull (Co Down), American Wigeon (Worcestershire), Green-winged Teal (Co Cork), two Yellow-browed Warblers, White-tailed Eagles, Ring-necked Ducks, five Great Grey Shrikes and six Glossy Ibises. Summer migrant tallies comprised 31 Garganey, five Willow Warblers and three Ospreys, Ring Ouzels and House Martins. |

| The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Great Spotted Cuckoo on the Isle of Wight at Ventnor whilst of similar origin were Red-rumped Swallows new in Cornwall at both Polgigga and Tresillian. Rarities elsewhere were the Blue-winged Teal still in Highland, Penduline Tit in Kent, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Lesser Scaup in Somerset, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, and White-billed Divers in both Aberdeenshire and the Orkney Isles. Scarcities included Little Bunting (Norfolk), Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), two each of Ring-billed Gull, Surf Scoter and Rough-legged Buzzard, three of Ring-necked Duck and Great Grey Shrike, eight Glossy Ibises and nine Shorelarks. Incoming spring migrants included Sedge Warbler (East Sussex), two each of Ring Ouzel and Cuckoo, five Willow Warblers, seven Ospreys and 10 Garganey. Significant late news conerns a male Baikal Teal present in Norfolk at Welney on 20th March but it could not be relocated there today. |
