| New discoveries included a Penduline Tit in London,
White-billed Diver in Northumberland, Baird's Sandpiper
in Co Wexford and Pallid Swifts in Gwent and Kent, whilst
unidentified Pallid or Common Swifts were
logged in Aberdeenshire, Co Durham, Dorset, East Sussex, Kent, Norfolk, West
Sussex and Worcestershire. Lingering rarities included Lesser Scaup (Anglesey), Dusky Warblers (Co Durham and Isles of Scilly), Spotted Sandpiper (Co Durham), Forster's Tern (Co Galway), Black Duck and Lesser Yellowlegs (Highand), Black Scoter (Northumberland) and King Eider (Norfolk). The best of the rest included Little Bunting (Cornwall), Barred Warbler (Norfolk), three Rose-coloured Starlings, Pallas's Warblers and Hoopoes, at least five Parrot Crossbills, six Rough-legged Buzzards and 11 Yellow-browed Warblers. |

| A Hume's Warbler was discovered at Flamborough (East
Yorkshire), whilst Pied Wheatear (Wirral), American
White-winged Scoter (Lothian), King Eider (Norfolk),
White-billed Diver (Kent), Lesser Yellowlegs
(Highland), Hume's Warbler (Dorset) and Spotted
Sandpiper and Dusky Warbler (Co Durham) all lingered. The best of the rest included Richard's Pipit (Suffolk), two Hoopoes, three Rose-coloured Starlings, eight Parrot Crossbills and up to 11 Rough-legged Buzzards. |

| The highlight of the day was the arrival of more Pallid Swifts in
England with the identification of birds clinched in Cleveland at North Gare and in Lincolnshire at Gibraltar Point
but with further unidentified swift species - either Pallid or Common - in Cleveland (2), Kent, Lothian, North Yorkshire and West Sussex. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Pied Wheatear on the Wirral, Hume's Warbler in Dorset, Snowy Owl on the Orkney Isles, Eastern Stonechat species and King Eider in Norfolk, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Dusky Warblers in both County Durham and the Isles of Scilly, White-billed Diver in Kent, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and Lesser Yellowlegs in Highland. Scarcities included Hoopoe (Wiltshire), Parrot Crossbill (Norfolk), American Wigeon (Highland), two Lesser Snow Geese, four Ring-necked Ducks, five Rough-legged Buzzards, 12 Shorelarks and a total of 26 Cattle Egrets. |

| Today saw a selection of classic November passerines with Pied Wheatears new on the Wirral at Meols and
remaining on Foula, Shetland Isles, a Hume's Warbler identified in Dorset at Durlston Head, the Eastern Stonechat species still in Norfolk, two
Pallas's Warblers, and Dusky Warblers in County Durham at
Marsden Quarry, in Dorset at Portland Bill and three on St Mary's, Isles of Scilly. Other rarities today comprised Black Scoters in both Northumberland and County Kerry, King Eider in Norfolk, White-billed Diver in Kent, Spotted Sandpiper in County Durham, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and Lesser Yellowlegs in Highland. Scarcities included Common Rosefinch (East Sussex), Richard's Pipit (Somerset), Hoopoe (Wiltshire), American Wigeon (Highland), two Rose-coloured Starlings, four Ring-necked Ducks, six Shorelarks, seven Parrot Crossbills (together in Norfolk), 11 Rough-legged Buzzards, and a total of 111 Cattle Egrets. |

| Rarities today comprised both the Snowy Owl and Pied-billed Grebe still on the Shetland Isles,
Black Scoter in Northumberland, Eastern Stonechat species and King Eider in Norfolk,
White-billed Diver in Kent, Bonaparte's Gull in Pembrokeshire, Spotted Sandpiper in County Durham,
Lesser Scaup on Anglesey, Lesser Yellowlegs in both Highland and County Wexford, and on the Orkney Isles a
Coues's Arctic Redpoll was identified on North Ronaldsay. Scarcities included Little Bunting (East Yorkshire), Hoopoe (Wiltshire), American Golden Plover (Western Isles), two each of Pallas's Warbler, Barred Warbler, Serin, Richard's Pipit and Common Rosefinch, three of both Surf Scoter and Ring-necked Duck, nine Rough-legged Buzzards, 18 Shorelarks and a total of 91 Cattle Egrets. |

| Sunday 4th November 2018 | ||

| Bird of the day was a Dusky Thrush in Yorkshire, which briefly visited the garden which hosted the Siberian Accentor in Easington before flying off. Other new discoveries today included a Snowy Owl at North Roe, Shetland, a Bonaparte's Gull at Dale, Pembrokeshire, a Lesser Yellowlegs at Tacumshin, County Wexford, a White-billed Diver off Brixham, Devon and single Pallid Swifts at North Foreland, Kent and Skokholm, Pembrokeshire.
Lingering rarities included Eastern Stonechat species and King Eider in Norfolk, Pied Wheatear in Shetland, Blyth's Pipit, Olive-backed Pipit and Dusky Warbler in Scilly, White-billed Diver in Kent, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Sussex and Highland, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Spotted Sandpiper in County Durham, three White-rumped Sandpipers in County Derry and two in County Wexford, Black Scoter in Northumberland and Lesser Scaup in Anglesey. |

| New discoveries today included a Lesser Yellowlegs in East Sussex at Jury's Gap and a Black Kite in Worcestershire at Chateau Impney. An adult White-billed Diver remained for a second day off Margate, Kent.
Lingering rarities included the Blyth's Pipit and Olive-backed Pipit in Scilly, Eastern Stonechat species and King Eider in Norfolk, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Lesser Scaup in Anglesey, Spotted Sandpiper in County Durham, Baird's Sandpiper in Gwent and Lesser Yellowlegs in Highland. Scarcity highlights included a Little Bunting, two Rose-coloured Starlings, three Richard's Pipits, three Great Grey Shrikes, seven Lapland Buntings, 29 Shorelarks, 236 Waxwings, a White-tailed Eagle, six Rough-legged Buzzards, a Green-winged Teal, two Ring-necked Ducks, a Grey Phalarope, two Balearic S'waters, five Little Auks, ten Pomarine Skuas, and Iceland Gull and four Glaucous Gulls. |

| The hottest news today related to a Tengmalm's Owl on Orkney
- unfortunately the location of the bird is currently being suppressed. Elsewhere new discoveries included a Isabelline Shrike sp in East Sussex, Rustic Bunting in East Yorkshire, two White-billed Divers in Shetland and a Penduline Tit in Suffolk. The Blyth's Pipit, Olive-backed Pipit and at least three Dusky Warblers (Isles of Scilly), King Eider, Eastern Stonechat and at least one Coues's Arctic Redpoll (Norfolk), Long-billed Dowitcher (Lincolnshire), Pied Wheatear (Shetland), Lesser Yellowlegs (Dorset and Highland), Baird's Sandpiper (Gwent), Dusky Warbler (Essex), two White-rumped Sandpipers (Co Wexford), Spotted Sandpiper (Co Durham) and Lesser Scaup (Anglesey) all lingered. The best of the rest included Rose-coloured Starling (Conwy), Pallas's Warbler and White-tailed Eagle (East Yorkshire), two Richard's Pipits and Barred Warblers and four Little Buntings. |
