| Rarities today comprised the Stilt Sandpiper still in Dorset, Snowy Owl
on the Isles of Scilly, Desert Wheatear in North Yorkshire, Hume's Warbler in Norfolk,
Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Coues's Arctic Redpolls in both Norfolk and Suffolk,
Long-billed Dowitcher in Kent, King Eiders in Ceredigion and County Sligo, and
Lesser Scaups in Cornwall and County Galway. Scarcities included Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), Rough-legged Buzzard (Cambridgeshire), Lesser Snow Goose (Aberdeenshire), two Richard's Pipits, three each of American Wigeon and Glossy Ibis, five Ring-necked Ducks, six of both Surf Scoter and Ring-billed Gull, and in England a total of 67 Parrot Crossbills between Berkshire, Derbyshire, Hertfordshire and Norfolk. |

| A Lesser Scaup was found at Lydacan Turlough, County Galway today.
Lingering rarities included the Snowy Owl on St Martin's, Isles of Scilly, Stilt Sandpiper at Coward's Marsh, Dorset, Long-billed Dowitcher at Oare, Kent, Hume's Warbler at Waxham and two Coues's Arctic Redpolls at Letheringsett, both Norfolk (with another of the latter still at Aldeburgh, Suffolk), Desert Wheatear at Whitby, Yorkshire, Penduline Tit at Longford, Gloucestershire, Black Scoter at Rossbeigh, County Kerry and King Eider at Ynyslas, Ceredigion. Scarcity highlights included a Richard's Pipit, four Great Grey Shrikes, six Lapland Buntings, nine Shorelarks, 41 Parrot Crossbills, 43 Waxwings, a Rough-legged Buzzard, four Glossy Ibises, an American Wigeon, two Surf Scoters, three Green-winged Teals, four Ring-necked Ducks, four Ring-billed Gulls, 18 Glaucous Gulls and 21 Iceland Gulls. |

| Friday 12th January 2018 | ||

| New discoveries included a Stilt Sandpiper at Christchurch
Harbour (Dorset - presumably the bird last seen on Brownsea Island on 28th
December last year) and Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Orkney. The
Snowy Owl (Isles of Scilly), Hume's Warbler (Norfolk),
Desert Wheatear (North Yorkshire), Coues's Arctic
Redpolls (Norfolk [2] and Suffolk), Long-billed Dowitcher
(Kent) and Penduline Tit (Gloucestershire) all lingered. The best of the rest included Richard's Pipit (Gloucestershire), Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), Rough-legged Buzzard (Cambridgeshire), 15 Parrot Crossbills (Norfolk), three American Wigeons and six Glossy Ibises. |

| Lingering rarities comprised Hume's Warbler and two

whilst a Lesser Yellowlegs reappeared at Lodmoor RSPB (Dorset). The best of the rest included Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), Lapland Bunting (Cleveland), two Ring-necked Ducks, three each of Richard's Pipit, Glossy Ibis and Yellow-browed Warbler, four American Wigeon, six Surf Scoters, 12 Waxwings, 25 Shorelarks, and at least 32 Parrot Crossbills. |

| Lingering rarities confirmed as still present today were the Desert Wheatear still in North Yorkshire,
Hume's Warbler and two Coues's Arctic Redpolls in Norfolk, Penduline Tit
in Gloucestershire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Kent and Lesser Scaup in Cornwall. Scarcities included Ring-necked Duck (Essex), two Rough-legged Buzzards, three each of Richard's Pipit, Ring-billed Gull and Surf Scoter, four American Wigeons and in England 31 Parrot Crossbills spread between Berkshire, Derbyshire and Norfolk. |

| The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Red-throated Pipit in Cornwall
on The Lizard. In Norfolk more Coues's Arctic Redpolls were identified with now three together at Letheringsett, two at Cromer and singles at Bodham and Holt. Further lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Black Scoter in Northumberland, Desert Wheatear in North Yorkshire, Hume's Warbler in Norfolk, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, White-billed Diver in Highland, King Eider in Ceredigion and Lesser Scaup in Cornwall. Scarcities included Richard's Pipit (Gloucestershire), three each of Rough-legged Buzzard, American Wigeon and Ring-necked Duck, four Glossy Ibises, five each of both Ring-billed Gull and Surf Scoter, 31 Lapland Buntings and in England 28 Parrot Crossbills between Berkshire, Derbyshire and Norfolk. |

| The highlight of the day was the return of the Black Scoter to
Goswick, Northumberland, whilst in Highland a White-billed Diver was new at Scrabster. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Hume's Warbler in Norfolk, Desert Wheatear in North Yorkshire, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Lesser Scaup in Cornwall and Coues's Arctic Redpolls in both Norfolk (3) and Suffolk Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (East Yorkshire), Richard's Pipit (Gloucestershire), Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), two Rough-legged Buzzards, three Ring-necked Ducks, four Glossy Ibises, seven Surf Scoters, eight each of both American Wigeon and Ring-billed Gull, and in England 36 Parrot Crossbills between Berkshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Surrey. |

| Saturday 6th January 2018 | ||

| A White-billed Diver flew north along the north-east coast between
Whitburn, County Durham and Hadston Carrs, Northumberland, with a further two
birds reported from Beadnell. In Norfolk a Hume's Warbler was identified
at Waxham, present for its second day, whilst late news from yesterday concerned
a Brunnich's Guillemot off Lamba Ness, Unst, Shetland and a
White-billed Diver off Brora, Highland.
Lingering rarities still present today included the Snowy Owl in Scilly, Desert Wheatear in Yorkshire, Coues's Arctic Redpolls in Norfolk and Suffolk, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Lesser Scaups in Cornwall and Somerset and King Eider in Ceredigion. Scarcity highlights included a Rose-coloured Starling, a Great Grey Shrike, two Yellow-browed Warblers, three Richard's Pipits, three Waxwings, seven Lapland Buntings, 25 Shorelarks, 41 Parrot Crossbills, a Temminck's Stint, seven Glossy Ibises, two Little Auks, two Pomarine Skuas, a Green-winged Teal, four Surf Scoters, four Ring-necked Ducks, four American Wigeon, a Todd's Canada Goose, a Tundra Bean Goose, a Rough-legged Buzzard, a Kumlien's Gull, seven Ring-billed Gulls, 25 Glaucous Gulls and 41 Iceland Gulls. |
