  Lingering rarities comprised Hume's Warbler and at least four Coues's Arctic Redpolls (Norfolk), Snowy Owl (Isles of Scilly), King Eider (Ceredigion), Lesser Scaup (Cornwall), Penduline Tit (Gloucestershire), Long-billed Dowitcher (Kent) and Desert Wheatear (North Yorkshire).

The best of the scarcities included Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), Rough-legged Buzzard (Cambridgeshire), two Yellow-browed Warblers, three Richard's Pipits, three Glossy Ibises, five American Wigeons, ten Parrot Crossbills, at least ten Waxwings and 21 Shorelarks.

Tuesday 9th January 2018  
  Lingering rarities confirmed as still present today were the Desert Wheatear still in North Yorkshire, Hume's Warbler and two Coues's Arctic Redpolls in Norfolk, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Kent and Lesser Scaup in Cornwall.

Scarcities included Ring-necked Duck (Essex), two Rough-legged Buzzards, three each of Richard's Pipit, Ring-billed Gull and Surf Scoter, four American Wigeons and in England 31 Parrot Crossbills spread between Berkshire, Derbyshire and Norfolk.

Monday 8th January 2018  
  The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Red-throated Pipit in Cornwall on The Lizard. In Norfolk more Coues's Arctic Redpolls were identified with now three together at Letheringsett, two at Cromer and singles at Bodham and Holt.

Further lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Black Scoter in Northumberland, Desert Wheatear in North Yorkshire, Hume's Warbler in Norfolk, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, White-billed Diver in Highland, King Eider in Ceredigion and Lesser Scaup in Cornwall.

Scarcities included Richard's Pipit (Gloucestershire), three each of Rough-legged Buzzard, American Wigeon and Ring-necked Duck, four Glossy Ibises, five each of both Ring-billed Gull and Surf Scoter, 31 Lapland Buntings and in England 28 Parrot Crossbills between Berkshire, Derbyshire and Norfolk.

Sunday 7th January 2018  
  The highlight of the day was the return of the Black Scoter to Goswick, Northumberland, whilst in Highland a White-billed Diver was new at Scrabster.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Hume's Warbler in Norfolk, Desert Wheatear in North Yorkshire, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Lesser Scaup in Cornwall and Coues's Arctic Redpolls in both Norfolk (3) and Suffolk

Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (East Yorkshire), Richard's Pipit (Gloucestershire), Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), two Rough-legged Buzzards, three Ring-necked Ducks, four Glossy Ibises, seven Surf Scoters, eight each of both American Wigeon and Ring-billed Gull, and in England 36 Parrot Crossbills between Berkshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Surrey.

Saturday 6th January 2018  
  A White-billed Diver flew north along the north-east coast between Whitburn, County Durham and Hadston Carrs, Northumberland, with a further two birds reported from Beadnell. In Norfolk a Hume's Warbler was identified at Waxham, present for its second day, whilst late news from yesterday concerned a Brunnich's Guillemot off Lamba Ness, Unst, Shetland and a White-billed Diver off Brora, Highland.

Lingering rarities still present today included the Snowy Owl in Scilly, Desert Wheatear in Yorkshire, Coues's Arctic Redpolls in Norfolk and Suffolk, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Lesser Scaups in Cornwall and Somerset and King Eider in Ceredigion.

Scarcity highlights included a Rose-coloured Starling, a Great Grey Shrike, two Yellow-browed Warblers, three Richard's Pipits, three Waxwings, seven Lapland Buntings, 25 Shorelarks, 41 Parrot Crossbills, a Temminck's Stint, seven Glossy Ibises, two Little Auks, two Pomarine Skuas, a Green-winged Teal, four Surf Scoters, four Ring-necked Ducks, four American Wigeon, a Todd's Canada Goose, a Tundra Bean Goose, a Rough-legged Buzzard, a Kumlien's Gull, seven Ring-billed Gulls, 25 Glaucous Gulls and 41 Iceland Gulls.

Friday 5th January 2018  
  Discoveries today included a Lesser Yellowlegs in Orkney in Evie, Mainland, and a in Norfolk at least one Coues's Arctic Redpoll at Cromer.

Continuing rarities confirmed as still present today were the Snowy Owl in Scilly, Desert Wheatear in North Yorkshire, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Suffolk, Long-billed Dowitcher in Kent, Hooded Merganser in Derbyshire, and Lesser Scaups in Cornwall and Somerset.

Thursday 4th January 2018  
  Lingering rarities included Desert Wheatear (North Yorkshire), Penduline Tit (Gloucestershire), Snowy Owl (Isles of Scilly), Lesser Scaup (Cornwall and Somerset), King Eider (Shetland) and Coues's Arctic Redpoll (Suffolk).

The best of the rest included Rose-coloured Starling (East Yorkshire), Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), Rough-legged Buzzard (Cambridgeshire), two Yellow-browed Warblers, three American Wigeons, four Glossy Ibises, five Waxwings, five Ring-necked Ducks and Parrot Crossbills in Norfolk (15), Berkshire/Surrey (10+), Suffolk (6), Hertfordshire (3) and Derbyshire (2+).

Wednesday 3rd January 2018  
  New discoveries today included a Snowy Owl on St Martin's, Isles of Scilly and a Bonaparte's Gull at Radipole Lake, Dorset.

Lingering rarities included the Desert Wheatear in Yorkshire, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Suffolk, Pied-billed Grebe in Shetland, White-billed Diver in Orkney and Lesser Scaup in Somerset.

Scarcity highlights were a Yellow-browed Warbler, two Lapland Buntings, 12 Waxwings, 31 Parrot Crossbills, a Temminck's Stint, two Ring-necked Ducks, four Surf Scoters, five American Wigeon, a Snow Goose, six Glossy Ibises, a Little Auks, two Pomarine Skuas, three Kumlien's Gulls, four Ring-billed Gulls, 20 Glaucous Gulls and 21 Iceland Gulls.

Tuesday 2nd January 2018  
  In Shetland, two female King Eiders were found, at Symbister, Whalsay and in Mid Yell Voe, Yell, whilst a White-billed Diver was in Bluemull Sound.

Lingering rarities elsewhere included the Desert Wheatear in Yorkshire, Penduline Tit in Gloucestershire, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Suffolk, White-billed Diver in Orkney and Lesser Scaup in Somerset.

Scarcity highlights included a Great Grey Shrike, a Yellow-browed Warbler, a Lapland Bunting, two Rose-coloured Starlings, 18 Parrot Crossbills, 20 Shorelarks, 28 Waxwings, a Temminck's Stint, a Ring-necked Duck, two Surf Scoters, four Green-winged Teal, seven American Wigeon, two Little Auks, a Pomarine Skua, six Ring-billed Gulls, 11 Glaucous Gulls, 15 Iceland Gulls and seven Glossy Ibises.

Monday 1st January 2018  
  A busy New Year's Day produced rarities in the form of Desert Wheatear (North Yorkshire), Penduline Tit (Gloucestershire), Coues's Arctic Redpoll (Suffolk), Lesser Scaup (Somerset and Cornwall), White-billed Diver (Orkney), Long-billed Dowitcher (Kent), King Eider (Ceredigion/Gwynedd) and Snowy Owl (Co Mayo).

Scarcity highlights included Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), Rose-coloured Starling (East Yorkshire), Richard's Pipit (Cornwall), Lesser Snow Goose (Aberdeenshire), three Ring-necked Ducks, three Yellow-browed Warblers, four American Wigeons, nine Glossy Ibises, ten Shorelarks and at least 47 Parrot Crossbills.
