| In Northumberland, the adult Bridled Tern returned to the Farne
Islands, where it spent much of last summer, on and off.
Further south, the Short-toed Eagle lingered on in Sussex in Ashdown Forest, whilst other long staying rarities included the Ross's and Bonaparte's Gulls in Devon, Greenish Warbler in Lothian, Black-winged Stilts in Sussex and Blue-winged Teal in Aberdeenshire. Scarcity highlights included three Rose-coloured Starlings (Suffolk, Highland and County Galway), Ring-necked Duck (Angus), American Wigeon (Western Isles) and White Stork (Somerset). |
