Monday 16th July 2012  
  The highlight of the day was the first Fea's Petrel off the year, noted passing Mizen Head, County Cork mid morning. Other notable seabirds recorded today included at least two Wilson's Petrels and four Cory's Shearwaters around the Isles of Scilly, two Great and one Cory's Shearwater off County Cork, with further Cory's off Cornwall (2), Devon and County Galway.

Lingering rarities comprised the Ferruginous Duck still in Somerset, and single Glossy Ibises in each of County Cork, Somerset and Suffolk. Scarce migrants included Red-backed Shrike (London), Pectoral Sandpiper (both Essex and Northumberland), and White Stork (three together in Somerset).

The suspected Hudsonian Godwit found yesterday at Frodsham Marsh, Cheshire, showed again and proved to be a Black-tailed Godwit with a colour aberration.

Sunday 15th July 2012  
  Rarity news included the Roller in Aberdeenshire, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset, Snowy Owl in Co Mayo and Glossy Ibises in Suffolk, Co Wexford, Pembrokeshire and Hampshire.

The best of the rest included Red-backed Shrike in London, Montagu's Harrier in Lancashire, Pectoral Sandpipers in Norfolk and Northumberland and Temminck's Stint in Cleveland.

A godwit seen at Frodsham Marsh (Cheshire) this morning was probably a Hudsonian Godwit, but the bird could not be located at the site this evening.

Saturday 14th July 2012  
  The highlight of the day was the discovery of two White-rumped Sandpipers at inland locations in England; at Kirkby on Bain, Linclonshire, and Grimley, Worcestershire.

Rarities elsewhere comprised the Snowy Owl back on The Mullet, County Mayo, Roller still in Aberdeenshire, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset, and single Glossy Ibises in both West Sussex and County Wexford.

Scarcities included White Stork (three together in Somerset), Short-toed Lark (Norfolk), Serin (Kent), Hoopoe (Western Isles), Red-backed Shrike (London), Surf Scoter (Aberdeenshire), Temminck's Stint (Cleveland and Leicestershire), Cory's Shearwater (Isles of Scilly) and four Pectoral Sandpipers (Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Northumberland and County Wexford).

Friday 13th July 2012  
  Late news from yesterday concerned a Roller in Aberdeenshire, seen on wires by the A98 west of New Pitsligo during the evening. Extensive searching today failed to relocate it.

Lingering rarities today included the Ferruginous Duck at Blagdon Lake, Somerset and Glossy Ibis at Tacumshin, County Wexford.

Scarcity highlights included single Red-backed Shrikes in Northumberland and London, Short-toed Lark in Norfolk, Serin in Suffolk, Great Shearwater in Yorkshire, Cory's Shearwater in the Isles of Scilly, single Pectoral Sandpipers in Northumberland and Norfolk, Temminck's Stint in Leicestershire and single Montagu's Harriers in Lancashire and County Wexford.

Thursday 12th July 2012  
  New rarities today included a Black Stork in County Clare, which flew over Ballyvaughan, a Ferruginous Duck in Somerset, at Blagdon Lake and at least three Wilson's Petrels from a pelagic off the Isles of Scilly.

Lingering rarities included the Iberian Chiffchaff in Somerset, White-rumped Sandpiper in Lincolnshire and single Glossy Ibises in County Cork and Suffolk.

Scarcity highlights included the Red-backed Shrike in London, Montagu's Harrier in Lancashire, Short-toed Lark in Norfolk, Temminck's Stint in Leicestershire, single Cory's Shearwaters in County Cork and the Isles of Scilly, single Pomarine Skuas in Highland and Angus and a Roseate Tern in Sussex .

Wednesday 11th July 2012  
  The River Warbler and Paddyfield Warbler on Fair Isle (Shetland), Iberian Chiffchaff in Somerset and White-rumped Sandpiper in Lincolnshire all lingered, whilst Glossy Ibises were recorded in Suffolk and Co Cork.

Scarcities comprised Montagu's Harrier in Lancashire, Red-backed Shrike in London, Great White Egret in Cheshire and Serins in Kent and Suffolk

Tuesday 10th July 2012  
  Lingering rarities included River Warbler and Paddyfield Warbler on Fair Isle (Shetland), White-rumped Sandpiper in Lincolnshire and Glossy Ibis in West Sussex.

The White-winged Black Tern remained at Lodmoor RSPB (Dorset) and a Wryneck was reported at Minsmere RSPB (Suffolk).

Monday 9th July 2012  
  Lingering rarities included Paddyfield Warbler on Fair Isle (Shetland) and Iberian Chiffchaff at Porlock (Somerset), whilst the White-rumped Sandpiper reappeared in Lincolnshire. A Glossy Ibis lingered in Co Wexford.

Scarcities included White-winged Black Tern in Dorset, Serin in Suffolk and Red-backed Shrike in Northumberland. A Pectoral Sandpiper was reported in Cheshire.

Sunday 8th July 2012  
  Cambridgeshire's first Long-billed Dowitcher was present for its second day at Ouse Fen, whilst in Cornwall a Bee-eater flew over Chapel Carn Brea near St Just.

Lingering rarities included River Warbler and Paddyfield Warbler on Fair Isle (Shetland), Blue-winged Teal and Glossy Ibis at Tacumshin (Co Wexford) and Iberian Chiffchaff at Porlock (Somerset).

A Short-toed Lark in Norfolk, Serin in Suffolk, Icterine Warbler in Lothian, White-winged Black Tern in Dorset and Red-backed Shrike in Northumberland were also recorded.

Late news from yesterday related to reports of Caspian Terns at Wissington beet factory and Cley (Norfolk).

Saturday 7th July 2012  
  The wader season certainly seems to have commenced today, with Shetland's second Marsh Sandpiper (the first since 1969), and single White-rumped Sandpipers in Lincolnshire (Frampton Marsh RSPB) and County Wexford (Rosslare Back Strand).

The only lingering rarities seen today were Glossy Ibises, with singles still in Suffolk, Pembrokeshire and County Wexford.

Scarcity highlights involved an Icterine Warbler in Lothian, Red-backed Shrike in Northumberland, Serin in Suffolk, American Wigeon in Orkney and Golden Oriole in Suffolk.
