Dowitcher in Dorset and Lesser Yellowlegs in Leicestershire. In
Lincolnshire an American Golden Plover was discovered at Donna Nook.
In Ireland the American Coot lingered in Co Mayo, Blue-winged Teals were in Co Clare and Co Tipperary and the House Crow remained in Co Cork. In Norfolk the probable Northern Harrier lingered in the north coast and Waxwings were again widespread in Britain. |

| The highlight of the day was confirmation of the identification of a Hume's Yellow-browed Warbler at Holme Dunes, Norfolk, having first been noted there yesterday. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present today comprised the Green Heron in Cornwall, Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Forster's Tern in County Galway, Lesser Yellowlegs in Leicestershire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset, Red-breasted Goose in Merseyside, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset and Glossy Ibises in Devon (3), County Wexford and Wiltshire. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Kent), Common Rosefinch and Surf Scoter (Pembrokeshire), Ring-billed Gull (Essex) and Great Grey Shrike (Dorset), two each of Cattle Egret and Green-winged Teal, three Black Brants, four each of both Rough-legged Buzzard and Yellow-browed Warbler and five Great White Egrets. Waxwings were reported from 35 counties. |

| For the second consecutive day a Rustic Bunting was the best new
discovery, this time at Rye Harbour NR (East Sussex).
Lingering rarities included Green Heron in Cornwall, Lesser Yellowlegs in Leicestershire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset, and Glossy Ibis in Devon, but in Greater Manchester the Pied-billed Grebe could not be found at Hollingworth Lake. In Ireland, the American Coot was still in Co Mayo, whilst Northern Harrier (Co Wexford), Forster's Tern (Co Galway) and Ferruginous Duck (Co Down) also lingered. Waxwing flocks were still widespread, Pallas's Warblers were still in East Yorkshire and Dorset, a Richard's Pipit flew over in Hampshire and Yellow-browed Warblers lingered on Isles of Scilly and in Cornwall. |

| A Rustic Bunting near Whitstable (Kent) was today's headline
discovery. Elsewhere at least one Coues's Arctic Redpoll arrived on North
Ronaldsay (Orkney) and an American Golden Plover was identified on North
Uist (Western Isles).
Lingering Mega Rarities came in the form of Pied-billed Grebe in Greater Manchester, Green Heron in Cornwall and American Coot in Co Mayo. The Lesser Yellowlegs in Leicestershire, American Golden Plover in Norfolk, Glossy Ibises in Devon, Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Cambridgeshire, King Eider in Moray, Lesser Scaup in Glamorgan and Ferruginous Duck in Somerset all remained on show. In Co Wexford the Northern Harrier was still present at Tacumshin, whilst in East Anglia the probable Northern Harrier lingered on the North Norfolk coast. In addition to the aforementioned rarities in Ireland, the Semipalmated Sandpiper and House Crow were still in Co Cork and the Forster's Tern lingered in Co Galway. |

| Saturday 20th November 2010 | ||

| The first confirmed Laughing Gull for Britain in 2010 appeared at
Foremark Reservoir, Derbyshire this evening, following hot on the heels of the
Franklin's Gull at the same site earlier this month. Two Coues's Arctic
Redpolls were found on Mainland Shetland, one at Maywick and one at Sullom,
and two un-raced birds were seen in Norfolk, with singles at both Cley and
Salthouse. A Lesser Yellowlegs was found at Rutland Water, Leicestershire
mid afternoon, and single American Golden Plovers were found in both
County Cork and County Galway.
The Pied-billed Grebe remained in Greater Manchester, as did the Green Heron in Cornwall, Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset, Northern Harrier in County Wexford, single Glossy Ibises in County Wexford and Devon, Blue-winged Teal in County Dublin, Lesser Scaup in Glamorgan, Ferruginous Duck in County Down, two American Golden Plovers in the Western Isles and the Ross's Goose in Cumbria. |

| In North Yorkshire a first-winter male Desert Wheatear arrived at Long
Nab, Burniston.
Lingering rarities included Pied-billed Grebe in Greater Manchester, Green Heron in Cornwall, Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset, Glossy Ibises in Devon and American Golden Plover in Norfolk. In Ireland the House Crow and Semipalmated Sandpiper (Co Cork), Northern Harrier (Co Wexford) and Ferruginous Duck (Co Down) all remained on show. Standout scarcities comprised Pallas's Warblers in Gwynedd, East Yorkshire and East Sussex, Wryneck in Devon and Yellow-browed Warbler in Dumfries & Galloway, whilst Waxwings were still plentiful. |

American Robin and Glossy Ibis in Devon, Pied-billed Grebe in Greater Manchester,
Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Dusky Warbler on the Isles of Scilly,
Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset, American Golden Plover in County Galway and a
Ferruginous Duck in Somerset. Scarcities included five Rough-legged Buzzards, two each of both Great Grey Shrike and Great White Egret, single Pallas's Warbler (Lincolnshire), Yellow-browed Warbler (Dumfries and Galloway), Cory's Shearwater (Essex), Cattle Egret (Devon) and both Black Brant and Green-winged Teal (together in County Mayo). |

| A Pallid Swift at Hope's Nose, Devon mid morning was just the third
individual reported this Autumn, with an impressive five seen during the Spring.
Lingering rarities included the Pied-billed Grebe at Hollingworth Lake, Greater Manchester, American Coot on The Mullet, County Mayo, Green Heron at Pentewan, Cornwall, American Robin at Exminster, Devon, Ferruginous Duck at Corbet Lake, County Down, American Golden Plover at Cley, Norfolk and two Glossy Ibises in Devon. In Northumberland, the Squacco Heron at Morpeth was found dead, and there was no sign of either the Desert Wheatear or Ross's Goose in the county. Scarcity highlights included a Pallas's Warbler in Lincolnshire, a Yellow-browed Warbler in the Isles of Scilly, a Serin in Shetland, a Sabine's Gull in Sussex, two Great Grey Shrikes, two Ring-necked Ducks, at least three Rough-legged Buzzards and four Grey Phalaropes. |

| The highlight of the day was breaking news of a Desert Wheatear in Northumberland at Seahouses. Having first been noted there on Sunday, the bird showed well into the afternoon. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present today comprised both the American Coot and American Buff-bellied Pipit in County Mayo, American Robin and two Glossy Ibises in Devon, Pied-billed Grebe in Greater Manchester, Squacco Heron and Ross's Goose in Northumberland, King Eider in Suffolk, Long-billed Dowitcher in Dorset, and American Golden Plovers in both Cornwall and the Western Isles (2). Scarcities included five Rough-legged Buzzards, four Ring-necked Ducks, three Great Grey Shrikes, two each of Snow Goose, Yellow-browed Warbler and Green-winged Teal, a Great White Egret in Suffolk and a Black Brant in Kent. Waxwings were recorded across 33 counties. |

| An American Coot was discovered on The Mullet (Co Mayo) today. This is
only the second record for Ireland, following the famous 1981 Cork bird. Nearby
an American Buff-bellied Pipit was also recorded on The Mullet.
In Pembrokeshire an Ortolan Bunting was located on Skokholm Island. Lingering rarities included Pied-billed Grebe in Greater Manchester, American Robin in Devon, Squacco Herons in Northumberland and Pembrokeshire, Green Heron in Cornwall, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset, King Eider in Suffolk, American Golden Plovers in Cornwall and Norfolk, Glossy Ibises in Norfolk and Devon, American Buff-bellied Pipit in Co Waterford, Long-billed Dowitcher in Devon and Dusky Warbler on Isles of Scilly. |
